Description
Ki Mobility builds the Little Wave XP as a rigid paediatric wheelchair, set to your child's measurements and made to grow with them.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- The rigid 7000 series frame keeps the rear wheels within the child's reach, so it is lighter and more efficient to push than a folder.
- Frame Xpanders widen the frame as the child grows, and up to 3 in (8 cm) of seat depth can be ordered at no extra charge.
- Seat height, centre of gravity and back angle adjust on the Crescent tower.
- 16 lbs (7.3 kg) standard; transport 12.5 lbs (5.67 kg) on a 12 by 12 in frame with the armrest and rear wheels off.
- 165 lbs (74.8 kg) capacity.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A child ready to push a rigid frame, with the rear wheels where their hands reach.
- A folding paediatric chair with tilt: the Little Wave Arc.
- An adult rigid chair: the Ki Ethos. Over 165 lbs (74.8 kg): bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat 10 to 16 in (25.4 to 40.6 cm) wide and 10 to 16 in deep.
- Front seat height 11.5 to 20.5 in (29.2 to 52.1 cm); rear 11.5 to 20 in, set by the caster and wheel size.
- Book a free home assessment; your child's measurements and your therapist's plan set the order.
Using it day to day
- The chair is rigid and does not fold; the rear wheels come off for transport.
- The tower sets the seat height, centre of gravity and back angle, and the therapist resets them as the child grows.
- Removable stroller handles let a parent push on longer days.
- A rotating 5th wheel can be added to help a child learn balance and wheeling.
- Built to order; measurements and options are set with you and timing is given.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- 165 lbs (74.8 kg) is the maximum.
- WC-19 transit approval applies only when the chair is built with the transit system, and the seating must be removed for transport.
- Ki's Axiom for Kids cushions and backs are ordered with the chair; the base has its upholstery.
Which version should I choose?
- Armrests: height-adjustable T-arms, paediatric desk arms, tubular flip-up, swing-away, or none.
- Rear wheels 18 to 24 in with 0 to 8 degrees of camber; casters 3 to 6 in; gloss and matte colours.
How does it compare?
- The Little Wave Arc is the folding paediatric chair with tilt, for a child who needs both.
- The Ki Ethos is an adult rigid chair with a 275 lbs (125 kg) capacity.
