Description
The Ki Mobility Catalyst 5Ti is a titanium folding ultralight for self-propelling.
What does it do and how does it work?
It folds side to side on a dual interlocking cross brace.
- Ti3AL/2.5V frame. A titanium cross brace saves 0.5 lb (0.23 kg).
- Seat height moves in 0.5 in (1.27 cm) steps.
- Camber is 0, 2 or 4 degrees. The heavy duty build skips 2 and 4.
- Rear wheels are 20 to 26 in, spoke, Maxx spoke or mag. Casters are 4 to 8 in.
- Hangers are 70 or 80 degrees, with push-to-lock, pull-to-lock, flush, hemi or drum locks.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a rider on the rear wheels. A 16 x 16 in frame lifts at 10.8 lb (4.9 kg) with the wheels, footrest and arm receivers off.
Capacity is 300 lb (136 kg), or 350 lb (159 kg) heavy duty with a caster of at least 5 in.
The Rogue 2 does not fold. The Cruiser X4 is a ready-made folder.
The Catalyst 5Ti is on ADP's product list as an Adult Lightweight Performance Manual Wheelchair (device code WMA3KI010).
Will it fit?
Width and depth are built to order. We confirm both before you order.
- Width is 14 to 22 in (35.6 to 55.9 cm). A 21 or 22 in seat cannot take Klaxon Twist.
- Depth is 14 to 20 in (35.6 to 50.8 cm). A 14 in depth cannot take 24 to 26 in wheels.
- Front height is 15 to 21 in (38.1 to 53.3 cm). Rear height is 11.5 to 19.5 in (29.2 to 49.5 cm).
- Back posts are 8.5 to 19.5 in (21.6 to 49.5 cm), or 14 to 20 in (35.6 to 50.8 cm) with a push handle.
Using it day to day
Lift the seat-sling strap to fold. Press each axle button and slide the rear wheel out.
Lock both wheels, swing the footrests away and turn the casters forward before a transfer.
Wipe the axles weekly, clear caster hair, and hand-wash the upholstery. Anti-tips stay down except over a curb.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Klaxon Twist needs its mounts, and is off heavy duty, a 21 or 22 in seat, and 4 degree camber.
Vehicle-seat use needs transit: 300 lb (136 kg), four tie-downs, not on heavy duty.
No weight training, no bags above the rider, and no more than one or two steps. Some builds exceed 28.5 in (724 mm).
A seating professional should train the rider first.
Which version should I choose?
Accents are gloss, matte or anodized. Arms are T-arms, flip-back, swing-away, or none.
How does it compare?
The Helio A6 is a carbon fibre folder. The Quickie 2 is an aluminium folder. See type 3 wheelchairs and folding wheelchairs.
Frequently asked questions
Can one hand propel both wheels?
Yes. One-arm drive fits 20, 22 or 24 in spoke wheels, and the shaft comes off to fold.
Can I add elevating leg rests?
Yes. They fit the swing-away front, and not with Twist or a one-piece flip-up footplate.
Does a positioning belt come fitted?
No. Order a pelvic belt with the chair, auto-buckle or airline buckle, if the rider needs one.
