Description
The Leckey Mygo Stander (frames 143-1600 and 143-2600) is a 3-in-1 standing frame for a child aged about 4 to 14, set for prone, supine or upright standing.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Angle: continuous from vertical to 10 degrees from horizontal, in prone, supine or upright.
- Knees: knee supports and footplates move together, accommodating a fixed contracture up to 25 degrees.
- Chest: a ribcage-shaped pad lets the shoulder girdle protract and retract for free arm movement.
- Pelvis: a derotation belt holds the pelvis central and neutral.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Children with moderate to complex needs whose standing programme changes position, or who have fixed knee or hip contractures.
- A child who only stands upright should compare the simpler Leckey Freestander.
- Do not choose it if the contracture is beyond the frame's limits, or standing causes pain that adjustment cannot settle.
Will it fit?
- Size 1 (about 4-10 years): 42.5-57.1 in (1080-1450 mm) tall, up to 110 lbs (50 kg), chest support 29.9-42.5 in (760-1080 mm) from the footplate, hip width 8.6-12.9 in (220-330 mm).
- Size 2 (about 8-14 years): 53.1-66.9 in (1350-1700 mm) tall, up to 132 lbs (60 kg), chest support 38.5-51.1 in (980-1300 mm), hip width 11-15.3 in (280-390 mm).
- Floor space is 38.5 x 24.8 in (978 x 630 mm) size 1 and 44.5 x 25.6 in (1130 x 650 mm) size 2.
Using it day to day
- Move the child in with a hoist or two carers, fit the pelvic band first, then the chest and knee straps.
- Lock the castors facing outwards whenever the child is in the frame, and while adjusting or storing it.
- Use it indoors on a floor that slopes less than 5 degrees, and never leave a child unattended in it.
- Standard covers machine wash at 40 C; black infection-control covers at 90 C.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The tray carries no more than 17.6 lbs (8 kg) and is for the child's use only. It sits 0-5.9 in (0-150 mm) above the hip pad and tilts 45 degrees prone to 45 degrees supine.
- Options include a headrest and shoulder support for supine standing, chest and flip-away laterals, a wraparound harness, derotation belts, knee straps, sandals and a grab rail.
- Keep it dry and indoors, between +5 and +40 C. Do not use a hose or power washer.
- Warranty: 3 years on Leckey manufactured products and components.
Which version should I choose?
Two sizes with manual angle adjustment, PU pads and a two-piece footplate. Covers are blue, orange, pink or black infection control. The tray, headrest, laterals and harnesses are separate.
How does it compare?
- Leckey Freestander is an upright stander for ages 1 to 18.
- Leckey Pronestander offers five fixed prone angles from 45 to 85 degrees. See other standers.
Frequently asked questions
Can two children share one frame?
Yes. It suits individual or multiple children, but the pads must be reset for each. Keep a written record of each setup.
Does the frame arrive assembled?
No. It arrives flat in a carton and is bolted together. We deliver and set it up across Toronto and the GTA.
What changes as the child grows?
The supports move within the ranges above. Once the child passes size 2, the next frame is needed.
