Description

The Leckey Freestander (LFS/1, LFS/2, LFS/3) is an upright standing frame for a child aged about 1 to 18 who cannot stand independently.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Chest: a plate with flexible laterals, set for angle, depth and height.
  • Hips: a pelvic belt de-rotates the hips over the base.
  • Knees and feet: knee cups slide and rotate, and sandals fix the feet.
  • Tray: a cover and a bowl, with height and angle adjustment.
  • Base: lock the castors facing out before the child gets in.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

  • Choose it when the pads must be reset as the child grows.
  • Choose a prone stander if the child needs to lean forward. This frame does not tilt.
  • Choose something else if hip or knee flexion, or pain, is more than the pads can settle.

Will it fit?

Measure standing height, weight and chest width.

  • Size 1, about 1-5 years: height 31.4-45.3 in (800-1151 mm), to 132 lbs (60 kg), chest pad 18.5-26.7 in (470-680 mm), chest width 5.9-10 in (152-254 mm), base 26 x 26 in (650 x 650 mm).
  • Size 2, about 4-10 years: height 43.3-57 in (1100-1448 mm), to 176 lbs (80 kg), chest pad 26.7-38.3 in (680-975 mm), chest width 7.9-12 in (203-305 mm), base 30 x 30 in (750 x 750 mm).
  • Size 3, about 9-18 years: height 55.1-72.7 in (1400-1849 mm), to 198 lbs (90 kg), chest pad 38.3-53.1 in (975-1350 mm), chest width 10-14 in (254-356 mm), base 30 x 30 in (750 x 750 mm).

We confirm the size before you order.

Using it day to day

  • It arrives boxed, with an allen key. Fit the inner poles, slide the frame to chest height, and tighten the bolts.
  • Do not change that main height while the child is in the frame.
  • Pelvic band first, then the chest strap and the knee straps. Stay with the child.
  • Lock every castor facing out. The floor must slope no more than 5 degrees.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • Nothing hotter than 40 C goes on the tray. Use the frame between 5 C and 40 C.
  • Upholstery is latex free. Use only Leckey parts. A modification voids the 3 year warranty. See the warranty tab.
  • Size 1 is Meadow, sizes 2 and 3 are Mondeo Blue, and vinyl is available on each size. A solid pelvic plate and booties are extra.

Which version should I choose?

Meadow is LFS/1-MW. Mondeo Blue is LFS/2-MB and LFS/3-MB. Vinyl is the VIN codes.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Can I raise the frame while my child is in it?

No. Set the main height first and tighten the bolts. Finer pad adjustments can be made with the child in.

Does this stander tilt?

No. The Freestander is upright. Choose a prone or combination stander if another angle is needed.

Can two children share one frame?

Only when both fit the same size for height, weight and chest width, and a clinician sets the pads for each.
