Item 450000 moves a person who cannot step into a vehicle. Two carers use two Medcare Care Stand Belts, up to 475 lb (215 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
The boom reaches 30 in (76 cm) into the car and lifts 40 in (102 cm), sitting or lying.
- It turns 360 degrees.
- A hand control raises and lowers it.
- A padded two-point bar takes the belt loops. Use the shortest loops that reach.
- A foot pedal opens the legs. Lock the brakes before you connect the belts.
- Two 24 V, 5 amp packs and a mesh bag come with it.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
For someone with little weight-bearing ability, in or out of a car or van.
- Stay at or under 475 lb (215 kg), including the belt rating.
- Bed to chair, never a vehicle: choose a room floor lift.
- Set them on a wheelchair or stretcher as soon as they leave the car.
Will it fit?
Closed width is 27 in (69 cm) outside. That has to clear the doorway.
- Open inside width is 36 in (91 cm). Keep the person inside that base.
- Base height is 4.5 in (11.4 cm). Measure the sill.
- Length is 47 in (119 cm).
- We confirm the door opening and the ground beside the car before you order.
Using it day to day
One carer runs the lift. A second carer stays in the car.
- Clear the roof, set the bar at the shoulders, and lock the brakes.
- One belt goes around the back and under the arms. The second goes under the thighs, above the knees.
- Lift clear of the seat, turn the feet to the door, and support the head from inside the car.
- Roll back onto the wheelchair or stretcher at once.
- Charge 6 to 8 hours. A red light on the receiver means recharge. No extension cord.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Care Stand Belts are separate. Use Medcare belts. Another maker's part voids the warranty.
- Stopper 400611 is optional and keeps loops on the hooks.
- Level ground only. Not stairs, a high sill, or a long roll across a lot.
- Frame and welds 5 years, parts 2 years, battery, hand control and actuator 1 year, belts 6 months from the tag date.
Which version should I choose?
Item 450000 has the 4.5 in (11.4 cm) wheel base. Item 450045, the Low Pro, is a different chassis.
How does it compare?
- The Span F350CT folds and stops at 350 lb (159 kg).
- The Hoyer Advance is a folding room lift at 341 lb (155 kg), with no vehicle boom.
- The Eva450EE is a 450 lb room lift. Other indoor lifts are under patient lifts.
Frequently asked questions
What if the boom will not come down?
Before August 2013, open the red collar and turn the shaft clockwise. From August 2013, lift and hold the red release.
Can I bleach the belts?
No. Bleach weakens the fabric and voids the belt warranty. Retire a belt as soon as it frays.
How long should it last?
Expected service life is 10 years. Have the frame inspected after that, before you keep using it.

Warranty details
Medcare Products, Inc. extends a limited warranty on the Medcare Car Extractor to the original owner, from the date of sale.
- Frame and welds: 5 years; a cracked or broken frame or weld is replaced.
- Parts such as bolts, bearings, bushings, foot pedal assemblies and battery chargers: 2 years; replacement parts are supplied.
- Batteries, hand controls and actuators: 1 year; repaired or replaced, at Medcare's option.
- Slings and belts: 6 months from the date on the tag; removing or altering the tag voids this cover.
- Medcare supplies replacement parts only; labour and installation costs are the owner's.
- Void with misuse, abuse, alteration, failure to follow the care, safety, operating or inspection instructions, or replacement parts not authorized by Medcare.
- Applies in Canada and the United States.
