Description
This is MK gel part 8GU1, alternate model MU-1 SLD G, and it has no lifting handle.
Who should choose this gel battery?
- Choose it when the battery coming out is marked 8GU1 or MU-1 SLD G.
- Choose the 8GU1H when the tray needs a handle. That part is 8.41 in (214 mm) long.
- Choose another case when the old battery is an 8G22NF. That gel part is larger and uses terminal G.
Will the 8GU1 fit the tray?
- Length 7.71 in (196 mm). Width 5.18 in (132 mm). Height 7.22 in (183 mm), including the terminal.
- Weight 23.5 lb (11 kg).
- Terminal Y (T873) is a small L with a 5/16 in hole. MK's offset post is terminal G, not this one.
How should the 8GU1 be charged?
- At 77 F (25 C), cycle charge is 13.8 to 14.6 V and float is 13.4 to 13.6 V, on a constant-potential charger.
- Do not charge it in a sealed container. The data sheet lists operation from -76 F to 140 F (-60 C to 60 C).
- MK rates it non-spillable by ICAO, IATA and DOT. The airline still decides.
- These sheets do not name a chair. Match the part number on the old battery.
How does the 8GU1 compare with other MK batteries?
- The MK 8AU1 AGM battery is a different chemistry, not this gel.
- The MK 8G22NF gel battery is the larger gel case on the same MK gel table.
- See the battery range when the old part number is neither of these.
Our technicians can fit and test this battery at home or in the shop. Start from battery replacement.
