Description
The Parsons 16B242A is a bolt-on toilet safety rail: an anodized aluminum frame with a moulded plastic arm rest at each side of the toilet. It fits under the seat on the hardware already on the bowl and is rated 250 lb (114 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
- Frame: anodized aluminum with an extruded aluminum Arm Bracket.
- Height: adjusts from 25.5 to 29.5 in (65 to 75 cm).
- Arm width: the inside width adjusts from 18 to 22 in (46 to 56 cm).
- Arms: moulded plastic rests, not padded; they push into the bracket and lift out for storage or travel.
- Mounting: bolts under the toilet seat with the hardware already on the toilet.
- Capacity: 250 lb (114 kg).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- It suits someone who wants a handhold at each side of the toilet they already have.
- Choose the Drive RTL12079 if the seat bolts cannot be used; it stands around the bowl.
- Choose the Drive RTL12000 for padded arms.
- Choose a grab bar for a handhold on the wall.
Will it fit?
- The seat bolts must be sound and reachable, because the frame fastens there.
- Height sets from 25.5 to 29.5 in (65 to 75 cm) and the inside arm width from 18 to 22 in (46 to 56 cm).
- For an elongated bowl or a raised toilet seat, tell us the combination and we check it before you order.
- A free home assessment can measure the space.
Using it day to day
- Fit the frame under the seat on the existing hardware.
- Push each arm into the Arm Bracket until its button clicks, and check it before each use.
- The arms lift out when the rail is stored or taken on a trip.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It is a handhold, not a seat or a step; do not sit or stand on the frame.
- The 250 lb (114 kg) rating depends on the seat hardware holding the frame.
- Check that the bracket stays tight on the seat bolts before each use.
- Bathroom safety items are non-returnable once used, so measure first.
How does it compare?
- The Drive RTL12000 also bolts on and has padded arms.
- The Drive RTL12079 stands on the floor and needs no seat bolts.
- The AquaSense 770-665 reaches the floor and adjusts in height.
