Description
The Power Plus Mobility Extreme is a manual tilt-in-space wheelchair made in Guelph, Ontario, for an adult who sits most of the day with a caregiver. It is on ADP's product list as an Adult Manual Dynamic Tilt Wheelchair (WM0001041).
What does it do, and how does it work?
- One trigger on the push handle releases two gas cylinders through a split cable, tilting 0 to 25 degrees.
- The front seat-to-floor height holds through the tilt, so the feet stay on the floor.
- The lower frame is recessed for foot propulsion; front seat height starts at 12.25 in (31 cm).
- Standard: swing-away footrests, ABS seat pan, angle-adjustable push handle, removable T-arms and 20, 22 or 24 in rear wheels with handrims.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Adults who sit most of the day with a caregiver.
- More than 25 degrees of tilt: the Power Plus Super Tilt Plus.
- No tilt needed: a folding wheelchair. Over 600 lbs (272 kg): bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat 16 to 20 in (41 to 51 cm) wide and deep in 1 in steps; custom to 24 in (61 cm).
- Front seat height 12.25 to 18.25 in (31 to 46 cm), set by wheel and caster; 29 in (74 cm) wide with an 18 in seat.
- At front heights of 16 in (41 cm) and below, tilt stops at 15 degrees; higher settings reach 25. We confirm the setting before you order.
- About 60 lbs (27 kg) and does not fold; plan for a ramp or lift.
- Measure hip width, hip to knee and knee to heel in usual shoes, or book a free home assessment.
Using it day to day
- Squeeze the trigger and release it at the angle you want; the struts lock again.
- Lock both wheels and swing the footrests aside for a transfer.
- Wipe painted parts with a mild cleaner; wash arms and upholstery with soapy water.
- Stairs need two attendants; never use an escalator.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Standard 250 lbs (113 kg); heavy-duty builds for riders over 250, 350 or 400 lbs reach 600 lbs (272 kg).
- Rear anti-tippers must stay fitted, at most 2 in (5 cm) off the ground, and reset after any wheel change.
- An angle-adjustable back needs T-arms; pin-style elevating legrests are not used at 14 in seat height or lower.
- Tie-downs are optional and the chair carries no crash-test rating, so transfer to a vehicle seat for travel.
Which version should I choose?
- Weight tier, seat size, footrests and arms are chosen on the order form; heavy-duty builds add a steel frame, back, caster journals, struts and seat pan.
How does it compare?
- The Power Plus Super Tilt Plus tilts to 50 degrees and offers power tilt; this chair does not.
- The Ki Mobility CR45 tilts to 45 degrees, takes 300 lbs and comes apart to 38 lbs (17.2 kg).
Frequently asked questions
Can the rider tilt it alone?
No. The trigger is on the push handle and a caregiver works it; the Ontario build has no power tilt.
Can the rider self-propel it?
Yes with 20, 22 or 24 in wheels and handrims; on 12 or 16 in wheels a companion pushes.
Does it come with a cushion?
No. The ABS seat pan is the seat; choose a cushion and back support on the order form.
