Description

The Maxima SC901 from Pride Mobility is a three-wheel heavy-duty scooter rated 500 lb (226.75 kg), with a 49 in (1245 mm) turn.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • A 24-volt rear-wheel-drive transaxle gives up to 9.3 km/h (5.8 mph) and climbs 6 degrees (10 percent).
  • Two 58 Ah gel batteries give up to 31.8 km (19.8 mi) per charge at maximum capacity.
  • The delta tiller has an infinite-position lever, USB charger, XLR port and full LED lights.
  • The high-back seat reclines 106 degrees, swivels four ways and has a 7 in (178 mm) headrest.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

  • A rider up to 500 lb (226.75 kg) who wants a heavy-duty scooter that turns in 49 in (1245 mm).
  • It suits doorways, elevators, ramps and moderate terrain.
  • Choose the four-wheel SC941 for more stability; it turns in 53 in (1346 mm).
  • Choose a power wheelchair for postural support; ask your therapist.

Will it fit?

  • 47.5 in (1206 mm) long, 28.75 to 33.5 in (730 to 988 mm) wide and 38 to 40 in (968 to 1018 mm) tall.
  • The deck is 27 in (686 mm) wide; measure the narrowest doorway.
  • The seat is 22 in (559 mm) wide and 18 to 20 in (457 to 508 mm) deep, set 22.1 to 24.1 in (561 to 612 mm) high.
  • Ground clearance is 2.5 in (63 mm) at the motor; measure ramp lips.
  • It separates into five parts without tools; the frame alone is 130.3 lb (59.1 kg).

Using it day to day

  • Charge after each day of use for 8 to 14 hours; give the batteries 48 continuous hours monthly.
  • Never charge with an extension cord, near flames or while someone is sitting on it.
  • The freewheel lever lets you push it on level ground; return it to drive mode before riding.
  • The seat swivels for getting on and off, and the tiller lever locks at the angle you set.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • The 500 lb (226.75 kg) capacity includes the rider and everything carried.
  • The maximum slope is 6 degrees (10 percent), and it climbs an obstacle no higher than 2 in (50 mm).
  • Use only the supplied off-board charger, never a car charger.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Does the power elevating seat come fitted?

It is ordered with the scooter and adds 6.25 in (159 mm); check that the raised seat clears your doorways.

Can I charge it overnight?

Yes. The charger stops when the batteries are full. If charging is not done within 24 hours, unplug it and call us.

Can I ride it in cold weather?

Store it between -25 C and 50 C (-13 F and 122 F). Cold slows a battery, so plan shorter winter trips.

Can I use a different charger?

No. A car charger, or one that charges the batteries separately, can damage them.

Pride's Canadian warranty covers the frame for life, electronics and drivetrain for two years, and batteries for 13 months: see the Warranty tab.
