Description
The Pride Pursuit ES (S713ES) is a heavy four-wheel scooter with a choice of two speeds, and the batteries are sold separately.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
- A rider up to 350 lbs (159 kg) who wants suspension, and who has a van or a lift. The frame does not come apart.
- The heaviest piece, once the seat and batteries are off, is about 118 lbs. That is not a trunk lift. See travel scooters if you must lift it.
- If you need a cushion or back support for posture, or cannot steer a tiller, ask your therapist about a power wheelchair.
Standard speed or high speed
- Standard: up to 9.7 km/h (6 mph), range up to 54 km.
- High speed: up to 15.3 km/h (9.5 mph), range up to 35.4 km.
- Length 53.5 in. Base width 25 in, not counting the seat. Turning radius 68.5 in. Ground clearance 3.5 in.
- Without batteries it weighs 161 lbs. With two 53 lb batteries, about 267 lbs.
- Never ride it as a seat in a vehicle. It does not meet ISO 7176-19. Strap the empty scooter at its four securement points, not at the armrests.
- The seat is 18 by 18 in (46 x 46 cm), reclines, swivels and slides, and its headrest and armrests adjust; the armrests flip up.
Batteries are not included
- Two 12 V 75 Ah Group 24 sealed batteries, AGM or gel, 53 lbs each. A "no batteries" choice does not mean it runs without a pair.
- Charge 8 to 14 hours before first use and after each day's use, then 4 more hours once the charger shows full. Used weekly or less, charge 24 hours weekly and 48 continuous hours monthly. New batteries reach full capacity after four or five cycles.
- The 8 amp off-board charger plugs into the tiller; the scooter will not drive while it is charging.
- Plug into a wall outlet, never an extension cord. We replace worn batteries.
- Pneumatic tires are standard, or solid flat-free as an option.
Everyday use and care
- The delta tiller has a key switch, a tortoise-to-hare speed dial, an LED battery gauge, a light switch and turn signals. Keep the console dry.
- Anti-tip wheels are fitted at the rear; they can catch when you mount a curb. Reverse is slower than forward, and the scooter powers down after 20 minutes idle.
- Check the tire pressure weekly. Have a provider service it yearly, and replace the batteries as a matched pair.
Compare
- Pursuit 2: the newer Pursuit, with a lithium battery included.
- Pursuit XL: a wider turn, and batteries sold separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is 9.5 mph the speed I will get?
Only if you choose the high-speed version. The standard Pursuit ES is up to 9.7 km/h (6 mph). We confirm which one you are ordering.
Can I push it in freewheel on a hill?
No. Freewheel is for level ground only, with the key out and nobody sitting on it. The brakes are off until you pull the lever back.
Does a lap belt come with it?
A 50 in lap belt is an accessory, and Pride describes it as a positioning belt, not a vehicle restraint.
