Description
The Quantum 1450 bariatric power base drives through its front wheels and carries rehab seating, rated to 600 lbs (272 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
- Front-wheel drive: 14 in (36 cm) solid front drive wheels, 9 in (23 cm) casters and 4 in (10 cm) anti-tips.
- Weight capacity: 600 lbs (272 kg) maximum, set by the seating you choose.
- Seating: TRU-Balance 2 HD tilt, Synergy or static, or power tilt; 20-32 in (51-81 cm) wide and 20-28 in (51-71 cm) deep.
- Speed and electronics: up to 7 km/h (4.3 mph), with a 90A VR2 6-key or 100A Q-Logic 2 EX controller.
- Power: Group 24 batteries, 52 lbs (23.6 kg) each, with an 8A off-board charger.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- It suits a heavy or large rider who needs a bariatric base with rehab seating.
- It is a base, not a finished chair: seat, back, riggings and electronics are chosen in the build. Choose a folding chair to lift into a car.
Will it fit?
- Rider: up to 600 lbs (272 kg), with the final rating set by the seating.
- Seat: 20-32 in (51-81 cm) wide and 20-28 in (51-71 cm) deep.
- Base: 29.25 in (74.3 cm) wide, 38.25 in (97.2 cm) long, 26.5 in (67.3 cm) turning radius, without riggings.
- Height: 16.5-18.5 in (42-47 cm) with Synergy or static, 18.125-20.125 in (46-51 cm) with power tilt; 1.5 in (3.8 cm) clearance at the anti-tips.
Using it day to day
- Charge with the 8A off-board charger; the controller shows the charge level, and the charger LED shows completion.
- For transport, use the four labelled tie-down points; never use the freewheel levers as tie-downs.
- To push, move both freewheel levers to freewheel mode; the brakes are off, so do it only on level ground.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Stay within 600 lbs (272 kg); the seating you choose sets the final rating.
- The 1450 has no lift and tilt or manual recline; power tilt raises seat height.
- Plan routes that avoid inclines and stay on stable surfaces.
- Warranty: lifetime frame; 2 years electronics, motors and components; 6 months bearings; 12 months batteries.
Which version should I choose?
- Seating: TRU-Balance 2 HD tilt, Synergy or static, or power tilt.
- Colours: Back in Black, Electric Blue, Evolution Orange, Pretty in Pink and Red Corvette.
How does it compare?
- The Quantum 4Front 2 HD is another front-wheel HD base with its own capacity and seating.
- The Quantum Edge 4 is a mid-wheel base for tighter indoor turns.
- See all standard power wheelchairs.
