Description
The Quantum Edge 4 is a mid-wheel-drive power base for riders up to 300 lbs (136 kg), with 14 in drive wheels under the seat.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Mid-wheel drive: 14 in (36 cm) pneumatic or flat-free drive wheels under the seat, with 7 in (18 cm) flat-free casters.
- iLevel option: 12 in (30.5 cm) of power seat elevation, with driving at 4.5 mph (7.2 km/h) while raised.
- Range and speed: up to 18.1 miles (29.1 km) on Group 24 batteries, and up to 7 mph (11.3 km/h).
- Ride and controls: independent SRS suspension, 120A Q-Logic 3 or 90A Q-Logic NES electronics, and a USB charger.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- It suits a rider who needs a compact mid-wheel base with rehab seating and a 300 lbs (136 kg) rating.
- Choose a different base for more capacity or a front-wheel feel; a folding chair if you lift it into a car.
- It is a base, not a finished chair: seating, electronics, foot riggings and iLevel are chosen in the build.
Will it fit?
- Rider: up to 300 lbs (136 kg), with the seating setting the final rating.
- Seat: 10-22 in (25-56 cm) wide and deep, depending on the seating.
- Base: 24.02 in (61 cm) wide, 38.27 in (97.2 cm) long and a 22.8 in (57.9 cm) turning radius.
- Seat height: 16.25-18.25 in (41-46 cm) with Flex, 17.5-21.25 in (44-54 cm) with tilt or iLevel.
Using it day to day
- Charge with the 8A off-board charger; the controller shows the charge level and the charger LED shows completion.
- Use the four labelled tie-down points for vehicle travel; never use the freewheel levers as tie-downs.
- To push, move both freewheel levers to freewheel mode; the brakes are off, so stay level.
- With iLevel, raise the seat only on flat, level ground, keep the belt on and lower it near uneven ground or fixed objects.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- iLevel works only on flat, level indoor floors and limited flat hardscape; never on gravel, hills or fields.
- If the controller shows iLevel not engaged, speed drops to 25%; lower the seat and arrange service.
- Warranty: lifetime frame; 2 years electronics, motors and components; 6 months bearings; 12 months batteries.
Which version should I choose?
- Seating: TRU Balance 4 anterior tilt or power tilt, TRU Balance 3 static, power tilt or tilt and iLevel, or Flex.
- Colours: 16 options, including Bermuda Blue, Inferno Red and Back in Black.
How does it compare?
- The Quantum 4Front 2 HD is a front-wheel base with its own capacity and seating.
- The Quantum R-Trak is a rear-wheel base for a different drive feel.
