Description
The Quantum TRU-Balance 4 is power positioning seating with anterior tilt for three Quantum bases. It is seating, not a complete chair.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Anterior tilt: 10, 20 or 30 degrees tips the seat forward so sinks, cooktops and cupboards are easier to reach.
- Posterior tilt and recline: 0-50 degrees and 85-165 degrees change the angle through the day.
- Memory positions: up to eight settings store each actuator's place and recall it with one button.
- Dual-actuator foot platform: lowers to the floor for transfers, with 0-7.25 in (0-18.4 cm) of articulation.
- Electronics: Q-Logic 3 with Bluetooth; WC19 transit kit optional.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a rider whose seat angle needs to change through the day to reach work surfaces.
- Anterior tilt is not seat elevation: to rise to eye level, choose iLevel or a lift chair.
- It is not a complete chair; the base, controller and cushions are ordered with it.
Will it fit?
- Bases: Edge 3 Stretto, 4Front 2 and Edge 3.
- Rider weight: 300 lbs (136 kg) or the chair's limit.
- Seats: 16-22 in (41-56 cm) wide and 14-22 in (36-56 cm) deep.
- Anterior tilt: needs tilt and recline, the dual-actuator foot platform and the lift system.
- Supports: the 20 and 30 degree settings require a chest bar and knee blocks.
Using it day to day
- Use anterior tilt on flat, level floors; never on slopes, curbs, gravel or grass.
- Speed falls as tilt rises: 2 mph (3 km/h) up to 10 degrees, 0.5 mph (0.8 km/h) from 10 to 20 with the seat under 6 in (15 cm) of lift, then drive lockout.
- Fasten the positioning belt and chest support before tilting.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Never reprogram or bypass the drive inhibits.
- Do not change the seating setup without the provider.
- A vent tray changes the weight and centre of gravity.
- The power seat actuator is covered for two years; the frame for life.
Which version should I choose?
- 10 degrees: the shortest forward travel.
- 20 or 30 degrees: more reach; chest bar and knee blocks required.
- iLevel or PASH adds seat height as a separate option.
How does it compare?
- The iLevel lift raises the seat but does not tilt it.
- The Q6 Edge 3 power chair is a complete chair with this seating.
- The 4Front 2 power chair is the front-wheel-drive base.
Frequently asked questions
Is anterior tilt the same as seat elevation?
No. Anterior tilt changes the seat angle; seat elevation raises the whole seat.
How fast can I drive with the seat tilted?
Up to 10 degrees at 2 mph (3 km/h); 10 to 20 degrees at 0.5 mph (0.8 km/h) with the seat under 6 in (15 cm) of lift, then lockout.
Do I need a chest bar?
With 20 or 30 degrees, yes, plus knee blocks. A chest support and belt are required with any anterior tilt.
Can this seating go on a chair I already own?
It is built for the three bases named above; the base is checked first.
Quantum covers the power seat actuator for 2 years; see the Warranty tab.
