Description
The Savaria bariatric in-situ hammock sling is a full-body loop sling for bariatric transfers, in short-tuck and long-tuck versions. It is rated 1,200 lbs (544 kg).
Which lifts does it fit?
- The shoulder and leg straps are loops that attach to a suitable bariatric loop spreader bar.
- Use it only with an appropriate bariatric lift; check the lift's safe working load before every transfer.
- The sling and the lift must both be rated for the person's weight.
- Tell us the lift model and serial and we confirm the fit before you order.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a bariatric person who needs full body support during a transfer.
- It transfers the person slightly reclined, to reduce the danger of suffocation or breathing difficulties.
- It may remain under the person for extended periods after a risk assessment.
- Choose a standard full-body sling if the person fits one.
Which size?
- Short tucks size 1, M921527-1, fits a waist of 31.5-43.25 in (80-110 cm).
- Short tucks size 2, M921527-2, fits a waist of 47.25-55 in (120-140 cm).
- Both sizes take a seated torso height up to 63 in (160 cm).
- The sling is 61.25 in (155 cm) high; the top width is 40.5 in (109 cm) or 51.25 in (150 cm).
- Long tucks, M921528-1 and M921528-2, support weight below the waist. The waist ranges above are the short-tuck sizes.
What is it made of, and how is it applied?
- Silva-Spacer with COOLMAX and COOLMAX freshFX EcoMade.
- Full leg paddles support the femur, with easy-glide fabric on both sides.
- An additional inner-leg pickup and hip straps add support.
- Two flat sheets help slide it under; fit the shoulder straps, then the leg straps and hip tapes.
How do you wash and inspect it?
- Wash at 203 F (95 C); tumble dry low, max 50 C.
- Close the hook-and-loop fastenings before washing and use non-biological detergent; do not iron.
- Check the straps, material, lift compatibility, both safe working loads and the label before each use.
- Remove it at the first sign of wear and store it dry with the fastenings closed.
What are its limits?
- The safe working load is 1,200 lbs (544 kg).
- It is a loop sling; never use it on a clip bar.
- Never use it with a lift whose safe working load has not been checked.
How does it compare?
The In-Situ High Easy clip sling is a full-body sling for smaller patients. The Hoyer bariatric Quickfit is another bariatric sling, rated 850 lbs (386 kg). See all full body slings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on a clip bar?

Short tucks add room at the back; long tucks are M921528-1 and M921528-2.
Does the sling have to be removed after every transfer?
No. It can remain in place for extended periods when a risk assessment supports that.
Is a neck roll included?
