Description
The Orthex Sensia Waterproof is a 6 in (15 cm) gel memory foam homecare mattress with a waterproof cover, in Twin XL (38 by 80 in) and Double (54 by 74 in).
What does it do and how does it work?
- A ventilated gel-infused memory foam comfort layer sits over a high-resilience Velva core and high-density polyurethane support.
- Ultra-firm high-density polyurethane foam reinforces the edges.
- The cover is stretch polyester coated with a waterproof membrane; Orthex calls it hypoallergenic, stretchable and easy to maintain.
- Orthex offers Firm (minimal sink) and Semi-Firm (a slight sink).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A person up to 450 lbs (204 kg) on a 38 by 80 in deck, or up to 650 lbs (295 kg) on a 54 by 74 in deck.
- A homecare bed where spills or incontinence are a concern.
- Side sleepers may prefer Semi-Firm; back or stomach sleepers Firm.
- Someone who wants a queen should choose the Sensia Waterproof Queen; it is a separate product.
Will it fit?
- Twin XL: 38 in (97 cm) wide, 80 in (203 cm) long, 6 in (15 cm) high, rated 450 lbs (204 kg).
- Double: 54 in (137 cm) wide, 74 in (188 cm) long, 6 in (15 cm) high, rated 650 lbs (295 kg).
- A 74 in double on an 80 in deck leaves a 6 in gap at the foot; measure the deck before choosing.
- It needs a uniformly firm base, and Orthex asks for a protector.
- If the bed has rails, recheck the gaps at the 6 in height; Health Canada recommends gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) within and under the rail, and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) at the rail ends. See bed rails.
- An opened mattress or one that has touched skin is not returnable, so measure first. See the return policy.
Using it day to day
- Unpack it on the base and allow 2 to 4 weeks for it to settle.
- Rotate it head to toe about every 3 months.
- Spot clean the cover or remove it for dry cleaning; do not machine wash it.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It is a homecare foam mattress, not a powered surface: no pump, alternating pressure or low air loss.

Can the cover go in a washing machine?
No. Spot clean it or remove it for dry cleaning; machine washing is not allowed.

Orthex Canada warrants the Sensia Waterproof mattress for ten years from the date of purchase against manufacturing or component defects.
- Mattress: 10 years from purchase.
- When Orthex approves a claim, it replaces the mattress with the same model or an equivalent.
- Warranty claims go directly to Orthex by email or phone.
