Description

The Drive 13240 is a battery-powered floor patient lift, item 13240, rated 450 lb (204 kg), for a carer moving a person who cannot rise into a standing aid.

Who is the Drive 13240 for, and who needs another lift?

  • Someone who cannot take weight through the legs for a standing transfer.
  • Someone who can stand and pivot: a sit to stand lift is lighter.
  • The lift and the sling must both be rated for the person.

How does a transfer work with it?

  • The sling attaches to the spreader bar, and the hand control raises and lowers.
  • The actuator pump has an emergency button that shifts the lift to manual lowering.
  • The lift will not run while it is plugged in to charge.
  • The sling must be maker-approved for the 13240 and match the person's size.

Will it fit under the bed and around a chair?

  • The base is 2 in (5 cm) high on 5 in rear casters.
  • Boom height is 27.5 to 76 in (70 to 193 cm), not a promised floor pickup.
  • Measure the doorway, the route around furniture and the space under the bed.
  • We confirm the base width for your unit; published figures differ.

Which sling fits it?

  • Drive's chart lists the sling families and sizes for the 13240.
  • Health Canada advises matching ratings to the person's weight, using a maker-approved pairing and inspecting the fabric.
  • See our patient lift slings.

Battery, charging and care

  • Charge from an AC outlet with the battery in the lift, then unplug.
  • An audible warning sounds below 50 percent charge; recharge before the next transfer.
  • Battery, hand control and actuator each carry one year.
  • We fit replacement batteries: replace battery.

Which versions and options are there?

  • One model with a Linak motor and steel frame; 108 lb (49 kg), 122 lb shipped.
  • No scale, powered base or low-leg version is published.

How do delivery, setup and service work?

We deliver, assemble the lift, charge the battery, fit the sling and walk through the controls and emergency lowering. See patient lifts in Toronto, book a free home assessment, or read about service. For a short need, rent first: patient lift rentals.

Drive's lifetime limited warranty excludes casters, grips and other wear parts.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

What is the weight limit of the Drive 13240?

450 lb (204 kg). The sling must also suit the person and be approved for the lift.

Can it lift someone from the floor?

The boom runs 27.5 to 76 in; a floor pickup depends on the sling and setup, so we confirm it first.

Is a sling included?

No sling is listed in the box, so we quote the lift and sling together.

Can it be used while charging?

No. It will not run while plugged in, so charge between transfers.

Can I rent one first?

Yes, for a short need: see patient lift rentals.
