Description
The original Solax Transformer (S3021) was built from 2015 until about 2019. For a current remote-fold scooter, see the Transformer 2.
Who it was for
- A rider up to 300 lbs (136 kg) who wanted the scooter to fold itself, and can lift 53 lbs (24 kg) with the battery out.
- It is not the Transformer 2. The newer model adds suspension and has its own page.
- If you need a lighter lift, the Go-Go Carbon is 35 lbs without its battery.
- If you need a cushion or back support for posture, ask your therapist about a folding power wheelchair.
Check the fold
- It folds in one piece by key fob or a rear switch, or by hand as a backup. The battery lifts out.
- Folded size 22.4 in high by 17.7 in by 17.7 in (57 x 45 x 45 cm). Open length 36.9 in (94 cm). Width 18.1 in (46 cm).
- Turning radius 55 in (140 cm). With a load under 136 kg it clears a 36 mm (1.4 in) obstacle slowly, square on.
- There is no suspension and no headlight. It is happiest on dry, level concrete or asphalt; short grass and hard gravel need care.
Battery and flying
- One 25.9 V 10 Ah lithium pack is included, 259 Wh, tested to UN 38.3, about 4 lbs (1.8 kg). Range up to 21.7 km (13.5 mi) per charge.
- Charging takes 8 to 12 hours after daily use and 12 to 14 hours after a week or more in storage. The off-board charger plugs into the rear port, and the scooter will not drive while charging.
- The airline must approve it before you fly. 259 Wh is under the 300 Wh cabin figure airlines often use, and an airline can still say no.
- With the battery out, the folded scooter weighs 53 lbs (24 kg). We confirm the build of any remaining unit before you order.
Using it day to day
- The panel has a key switch, a forward and reverse paddle, a speed knob, a horn and a 10-light battery gauge; reversing beeps. It powers down after about 15 minutes idle.
- Later units have a freewheel lever at the left rear; it beeps if the lever is engaged when you switch on.
- Open it the way you closed it; after a fob fold, use the fob or the rear bypass switch.
- To open it by hand, squeeze the red release lever toward the tiller and pull the tiller forward, then push down on the deck.
- No stairs or escalators. Keep it off frozen, slippery or salty ground; never charge a frozen battery; never use a hose.
- It is not a vehicle seat.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy this or the Transformer 2?
The Transformer 2 is the current model. This S3021 left production about 2019.
It will not unfold after a fob fold. What now?
Use the fob or the rear bypass switch; if that does nothing, plug in the charger and try again. A hand release will not work after a fob fold.
Can I fly with this pack?
Only if the airline accepts it. The pack is 259 Wh and UN 38.3 tested. That is not permission to fly.
What warranty is left on an old unit?
Production ended about 2019, so it is an older scooter, not a Transformer 2. Its terms are in the Warranty tab.
