Description
The Stander Wonder Bathtub Pole is a white security pole that clamps to the rim of a standard alcove tub and tensions up to a flat ceiling. Its curved grab bar rotates and locks every 45 degrees. It gives minimal to moderate support while standing or sitting, up to 300 lbs (136 kg), and it does not lift anyone.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Clamp: grips the tub rim; the pole then tensions against the ceiling.
- Grab bar: curved, and locks every 45 degrees.
- Ceiling beam: 18 x 8 in; its rubber pads must sit flat on the ceiling.
- Pole: 1.5 in zinc-plated steel with a white powder coat; waterproof.
- Fastening: tension, with optional joist screws included.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for an adult who needs a handhold getting in, out of or around the tub.
- Never for Alzheimer's disease, dementia, restlessness, sedation, confusion or frailty. Someone who falls beside it can be trapped, so you must be able to walk all the way around it.
- A child: adult use only.
- A wall fixing instead: a grab bar after a home assessment may suit better.
Will it fit?
- Tub: a flat-sided alcove tub, not a curved wall. Rim 3 to 7 in wide and 13 to 21 in tall, and not slippery, sloped or sliding.
- Clamp position: the clamp centre at least 12 in (30.5 cm) from the wall.
- Ceiling: flat and parallel, not angled or suspended, and not a surface that lets the pole slip.
- Ceiling height: 7 ft to 9 ft (2.13 to 2.74 m). Do not install it if the floor-to-ceiling distance is more than 9 ft.
- There is no 450 lb version of this pole.
Using it day to day
- Measure from the tub top to the ceiling and fit the matching tubes; not every tube is used.
- Keep the pole straight and perpendicular, with the rubber pads fully on the ceiling and the rim. Tighten with the supplied wrench, but do not overtighten the clamp; it can damage the tub.
- Fit two shower curtains or a split curtain, or water will run out. Put the curtain rod outside the pole; a fixed rod may not clear it.
- Wash with warm water and soap and dry it. Check the pads and the tension regularly.

Frequently asked questions
Does the bar lock at any angle?
No. It locks every 45 degrees only, and the handle is the single curved bar.
Do I have to drill?
No. The joist screws are optional; leave them out only if the pole does not slip and the pads sit flat.
What if a shower rod is in the way?
Take a loose rod down, fit the pole, then hang the rod outside it. Some fixed rods will not clear.

Warranty details
Stander, Inc. warrants this bathtub security pole to the original purchaser against defects in material or workmanship for the lifetime of the product, when it is used within its specifications. The warranty is not transferable.
- Pole, grab bar and clamp: limited lifetime; Stander sends replacement parts or a replacement product.
- Claims: notify Stander in writing and ship the product with proof of purchase; the purchaser pays shipping.
- Not covered: damage, alteration or unauthorized attachments, improper installation, use against the instructions or for other purposes, abuse, misuse, neglect or accident.
- Register the product with Stander to start the warranty.
