Description

The Handicare FlexiBelt hug, items 6072 to 6076, is a waist belt with sliding handles for transfers.

What does it do and how does it work?

It gives the carer a firm hold while the person moves.

  • The handles slide in loops, so the belt hugs the waist instead of riding up.
  • A quick-connect buckle and tightening strap set it below the waist.
  • Handle count rises with size, from 3 plus 2 movable to 7 plus 6.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a person who can bear some weight and needs help standing or moving from a seat.

  • For a fully dependent lift, use a patient lift and sling instead.

Will it fit?

Five waist ranges cover 45 cm to 175 cm (17.7 in to 68.9 in).

  • 6072 45-70 cm; 6073 60-100 cm; 6074 70-120 cm; 6075 100-160 cm; 6076 115-175 cm.
  • Every code is rated to 170 kg (375 lb).

Using it day to day

Place it below the waist, fasten the buckle and tighten the strap.

  • Tug it before use to check the buckle, seams and material.
  • For sit-to-stand, lean the person forward; one or two carers can use the handles.
  • Wash at 60-80 C (140-176 F) and tumble dry low; no fabric softener.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

It supports transfers and walking; it is not a lifting device.

  • Never hang a person from it or use it as a sling.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Can one carer use it?

Yes; the maker allows one carer or a pair.

Is 6072 the classic FlexiBelt?

No; 6072 is the smallest hug. Classic codes start at 6023.

Hug or classic?

The hug has sliding handles and a nylon outer; the classic has a velvet inside.
