Description
The Bodypoint PivotFit shoulder harness (standard SH290, dynamic SH295) holds the shoulders and trunk of someone seated in a wheelchair or work chair.
What does it do and how does it work?
A swivel buckle lets the pads pivot. A low sternum strap sits under the chest pads.
- SH290 is non-stretch CORDURA and reduces trunk movement, including severe kyphosis.
- SH295 is dual-zone stretch and allows controlled movement for spastic tone.
- Top straps are set front-pull or rear-pull at the fitting. SH290 and SH295 are marked ISO tested.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for trunk and shoulder positioning, installed by a qualified rehab technician.
- Choose SH290 when movement should be reduced. Choose SH295 when tone needs a controlled give.
- Choose a Jay neoprene panel or strap if you do not want this four-point harness.
Will it fit?
Measure maximum shoulder width at the deltoids.
- XXS: 21 to 24 cm (8 1/4 to 9 1/2 in). Pad 24.5 cm (9 5/8 in).
- XS: 24 to 28 cm (9 1/2 to 11 in). Pad 28 cm (11 in).
- Small: 28 to 33 cm (11 to 13 in). Pad 32.5 cm (12 3/4 in).
- Medium: 33 to 41 cm (13 to 16 in). Pad 37 cm (14 5/8 in).
- Large: 41 to 48 cm (16 to 19 in). Pad 42.5 cm (16 3/4 in).
- XL: 48 to 56 cm (19 to 22 in). Pad 49 cm (19 1/4 in).
Combined pad width is 11.5 to 32 cm (4 1/2 to 12 1/2 in), by size. We confirm the style code before you order.
Using it day to day
The technician sets the fit. With a new support, keep doing pressure relief and skin checks.
- Machine wash hot, 60°C (140°F). No bleach. Tumble dry low or drip dry. No iron.
- Mounts are four flat-mount B5 fittings (HKA31-25MM) or four cinch-mount B6 fittings (HKA32-25MM).
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Always use a properly adjusted pelvic support belt. The belt and the wheelchair are separate.
- Too tight restricts breathing and raises chest and shoulder pressure. Too loose can let the person slide, with a strangulation risk.
- If the person cannot release it, a caregiver must be present and must know how to unfasten it.
- It is not a transportation safety device or a personal restraint.
Which version should I choose?
Choose SH290 to reduce movement, or SH295 for a controlled give. Then pick the shoulder width, and flat mounts or cinch mounts.
How does it compare?
- Jay Classic: one neoprene chest panel, not a four-point harness.
- Jay Backpack Style: shoulder retraction in a 12 in or 18 in pad.
- Jay padded anterior trunk strap: a short neoprene band for reaching.
