The Excellent Systems Modular Ramp System is a made-to-measure route of ramp, platform and corner modules for one entrance.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Five Ramp KIT sizes cover rises from 0.7 to 7.8 in (1.8 to 19.9 cm).
- The ramp and platform are 29.5 or 39.4 in (75 or 100 cm) wide. A platform is 29.5 in (75 cm) deep.
- A Corner KIT turns the route left or right, in sizes from 9.8 to 49.2 in (25 to 125 cm).
- Ramp Adjusters give 2 to 16 mm (0.08 to 0.63 in) of height adjustment at the doorstep.
- The polyethylene surface comes with holes, without holes, or with SlipStop for outdoors.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- An entrance with a small level change that needs a run, turn or landing.
- For a single small step, a GATEWAY portable ramp needs no fitting.
- For a long or high route, the maker's custom aluminium system adds rails and landings.
Will it fit?
- Measure the rise, the run you have, the door swing and the path to the entrance.
- At 1:12, 12 in (30 cm) of ramp covers 1 in (2.5 cm) of rise; the device manual sets the limit.
- Leave a gap of under 1.4 in (35 mm) or over 3.9 in (100 mm) to walls, on firm level ground.
Using it day to day
- The KITs arrive preassembled and go together without special tools.
- Set each module with the adjusters, then check every joint is assembled and mounted before use.
- Indoors, lift the modules to clean underneath; outdoors, normal cleaners and pressure washing are allowed. Clear ice before sanding or salting in frost.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The maker rates the surface at 800 kN/m2 for people on foot, in wheelchairs or using walkers.
- Polyethylene handles -50 to 130 C (-58 to 266 F), and the ramp is not an escape route in a fire.
- Only the layout measured for your entrance is rated; the quote should state that rating.
Which version should I choose?
- Pick the KIT by the rise: KIT 1 covers 0.7 to 2.2 in (1.8 to 5.5 cm) and KIT 5 covers 5.7 to 7.8 in (14.4 to 19.9 cm).
- Choose SlipStop outdoors, and holes or no holes for indoor use.
How does it compare?
- The QRamp QR4.0 is a Canadian metal system for longer runs and turns; this one is preassembled plastic in five fixed sizes.
- For one sill, the TRANSITIONS ramp reaches a 6 in (15 cm) height.
Frequently asked questions
Does the ramp meet the building code?
Check with your municipality. The maker says the KITs suit small level changes, not very large installations.
Can I use it in winter?
With SlipStop outdoors, yes. Clear ice, then sand or salt, and judge the surface before each use.
Do I need a helper?
Only when the gradient is steeper than the user can manage. The maker then requires an assistant.
