The Handicare FGA-700, item 280402, is the low-base aluminum floor lift. It is rated 700 lb (318 kg), and the legs are 4.1 in (105 mm) at the top.
What does it do and how does it work?
The mast and the legs both move from the hand control.
- A 4-point bar locks onto a quick-release hook and turns 360 degrees.
- Gait bars rotate out of the way during a transfer.
- Three mast holes set the boom: middle is usual, lower adds height, upper lowers it.
- Lifting height is 23.2 in (590 mm) to 74.5 in (1,890 mm). The battery is 24 V, 2.9 Ah.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It transfers someone from a low bed, a chair, or the floor.
- Choose the standard FGA-700 if you need the taller 6.1 in (155 mm) leg instead of this low base.
- Trained staff only, and only a few metres inside one room.
- A short need can start with a patient lift rental.
Will it fit?
Measure the doorway and the gap under the bed frame.
- Length is 59 in (1,500 mm). Outer width is 30.1 in (765 mm) closed and 46.1 in (1,170 mm) open.
- Inside the legs is 25.2 in (640 mm) closed and 41.2 in (1,045 mm) open.
- The legs are 4.1 in (105 mm) at the top and 1.4 in (35 mm) underneath. Rear casters lock.
Using it day to day
Charge for 4 to 5 hours before the first lift. Unplug before anyone is in the sling.
- Lock the rear casters, spread the legs, seat the straps, then raise a little and check the clips.
- If power fails, turn the manual handle clockwise. A technician must reset the lift before the next use.
- Duty is 10% use and 90% rest.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Use Handicare slings. We confirm the charger before you order.
- Keep it out of water and away from flammable anaesthetics.
- Check the hand control every use. A technician inspects it every 6 months and load-tests it every 12 months.
Which version should I choose?
Item 280402 is the low base. The working load matches the taller FGA-700.
- The FGA-700 280400 has 6.1 in (155 mm) legs and weighs 161 lb (73 kg).
- Item 280403 is this low base with QRS in the name. The standard QRS lift is item 280401.
How does it compare?
See patient lifts and heavy-duty patient lifts. The Span F400 folds. See patient lift slings.
Frequently asked questions
Will the legs go under a low bed?
Measure the bed frame, not the mattress. The underside is 1.4 in (35 mm).
Can I transfer while the charger is plugged in?
No. Unplug first. The lift will not raise while the cord is in.
What if the hand control fails mid-lift?
Use the buttons on the control box. With no power, use the manual handle, then wait for a technician reset.
Is the low base rated under 700 lb?
No. Item 280402 is still 700 lb (318 kg). The lift itself weighs 141 lb (64 kg).
