The Handicare FGA-700 280403 is the low-base bariatric floor lift with a 4-point QRS bar, up to 700 lb (318 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
- Aluminum frame, 141 lb (64 kg). The legs are 4.1 in (105 mm) to the top so they slide under a lower bed. A hand control lifts the boom and opens the legs, one motion at a time.
- The 4-point QRS bar locks onto the hook, turns 360 degrees, and lowers to the floor.
- Press the emergency stop to cut power, then turn it the way the arrows point to bring power back. Charging still works with the stop pressed.
- Control-box buttons lift, lower, and move the legs if the hand control quits. Turn the manual handle clockwise to lower the boom in a power cut. A technician must reset the lift before you use it again.
- 24 V sealed lead-acid battery, 2.9 Ah, with the charger on the lift. The first charge takes 4 to 5 hours. Do not lift while it is plugged in. 30 lifts at 700 lb, or 60 at 350 lb (159 kg). An alarm stops the lift if the load is too high.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Someone up to 700 lb (318 kg) whose bed or chair needs the lower leg.
- Over 700 lb (318 kg), pick a different lift. The taller base is the standard FGA-700 280400.
- The same low base without a QRS bar in the code is 280402.
Will it fit?
- Closed outside width 30.1 in (765 mm). Open outside 46.1 in (1,170 mm), inside 41.2 in (1,045 mm). Length 59 in (1,500 mm). Turning radius 63.1 in (1,605 mm).
- Legs 4.1 in (105 mm) to the top and 1.4 in (35 mm) off the floor. Front casters 3.0 in (76 mm). Rear casters 4.0 in (101 mm) with brakes. Shut the legs to go through a door.
- Three mast positions, 2 in (50 mm) apart. The middle one is usual. Lowest mast setting: 19.2-70.5 in. Highest figures: 23.2-74.5 in (59-189 cm). Reach 17.8-18.9 in (453-480 mm), out to 27.2 in (691 mm).
Using it day to day
- Give it 4 to 5 hours on charge before the first lift, and plug it in whenever it sits idle. Brake the rear casters before a lift.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Sling straps go on the QRS bar. See patient lift slings. A sling is packed only when you order one.
- With someone in the sling, move a few metres inside the same room. Do not take it down a corridor, and do not get it wet.
- More heavy-duty patient lifts. A short need can start with a patient lift rental.
How does it compare?
- The FGA-700 280401 puts the QRS bar on the taller standard base.
- The Hoyer Calibre is another bariatric floor lift.
