Description
The Hoyer classic one-piece commode sling, item 70055, is the extra-large polyester sling for toileting on a passive Hoyer lift, rated 600 lb (272 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
Polyester, with a commode opening and a positioning strap, for someone who cannot stand for the transfer.
- Shoulder strap and leg loops go on the front and rear hooks of a Hoyer loop cradle.
- For many people with an amputation, and for bed making or a bath.
- No head panel. Support the head off the surface. A qualified person assesses them first.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
Use it for toileting, or a longer time in the sling, at or under 600 lb (272 kg).
- No opening needed: large one-piece sling 70051, same 600 lb (272 kg) load.
- Choose a head-support sling if nobody can hold the head.
- A standing transfer needs a stand-aid sling.
Will it fit?
Extra large only, item 70055, blue binding.
- Bottom edge just above the knees. Top at the shoulder blades. Keep both edges level.
- Small red 70058, medium yellow 70057, large green 70056.
- We confirm extra large 70055, and a Hoyer loop lift, before you order.
Using it day to day
Roll the person on with a draw-sheet roll, then bring the cradle overhead.
- Attach the shoulder strap and leg loops, then raise. Support the head as they leave the surface.
- Stay with them. Do not pull the loops to shift them.
- Machine wash warm. No bleach. Not over 185 F (85 C). Cool tumble, air dry, or very low heat. No dry cleaning.
- Check the stitching first. Discard it if bleached, torn, cut, frayed or broken. Do not alter it.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
For the HML400, CHLA-2, HPL402 and CHLA-2T with a loop cradle. Passive lifts only.
- Genuine Hoyer sling on a Hoyer lift. Another maker's product is not a match.
- Stay at or under 600 lb (272 kg), and within the lift's own rating.
- Classic slings: 6 months for the original owner. Altering the sling voids that warranty. See the Warranty tab.
Which version should I choose?
70055 is extra large and replaced retired code 70055SE.
- Smaller commode sizes are 70058, 70057 and 70056.
- 70051 is the large one-piece sling without this opening.
How does it compare?
Keep 70055 for a one-piece commode on a classic Hoyer cradle.
- The Hoyer one-piece sling, large 70051, has no commode opening, at 600 lb (272 kg).
- The Hoyer Access sling, medium NA1603, is padded and rated 500 lb (227 kg).
- The Dual Access sling uses a Handicare carry bar, not a Hoyer cradle.

Frequently asked questions
Is 70055 the small size?
No. 70055 is extra large, with blue binding. Small is red 70058, medium is yellow 70057, and large is green 70056.
Can the person stay in the sling?
Yes, for bed making or a bath, after a qualified person has assessed them. Never leave them unattended, and support the head.
Can I pull the loops to reposition?
No. Lower the person first. Pulling the loops to shift them is not allowed, and a torn sling has to be thrown out.

Warranty details
Joerns Healthcare warrants the Hoyer Classic one-piece commode sling, item 70055, against defects in materials and workmanship, and replaces a sling that proves defective within the warranty period.
- Sling: 6 months from purchase.
- Covers the original purchaser only.
- A replacement is covered only until the original warranty period ends.
- Joerns may ask for the sling to be returned for inspection, at the customer's expense.
- Excludes normal wear and tear, neglect, wilful damage, unsuitable surroundings and care that does not follow the instructions.
- Any alteration, modification or repair voids the warranty.
