Description
The Invacare Matrx E2 backrest is Motion Concepts' second-generation Matrx Elite back: a contoured wheelchair backrest built from a shaped shell, a 1.25 inch (32 mm) layer of Ripple foam and a Meshtex cover.
Browse wheelchair backrests.
Who is it for?
- The 3-inch Matrx E2 suits users up to 300 lbs (136 kg) who need a rigid back adjustable in height, depth and angle.
- Choose the right back in a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
Will it fit?
- Pick the E2 width from the distance across your wheelchair's back posts: each width fits posts from 1 inch narrower to 2 inches wider than the back itself.
- The back comes 14, 16, 18 or 20 in wide and 6 to 16 in high in 2 in steps; 15, 17 and 19 in widths are special order.
- The model number is E2S plus width and height, so E2S1612 is 16 in wide by 12 in high.
How does it work?
- The E2 has three layers: a contoured back shell, a 1.25 inch (32 mm) layer of Ripple foam, and a Meshtex cover that fastens to the shell with hook-and-loop strips.
- The standard MiniSet hardware is quick-release: brackets clamp to the wheelchair's back posts, and the back lifts off them without tools when you fold the chair or load it into a car.
- The brackets set height and width, angle 20 degrees forward or back, and depth 2 inches (51 mm) either side of the posts; a lumbar pad slips inside the cover, and backs 14 and 16 in high add a headrest interface plate.
What are the care limits?
- Take the cover off the foam and wash it warm, no hotter than 60°C (140°F), on a delicate cycle with a neutral detergent, by hand or by machine.
- Do not bleach it, dry clean it, wring it or iron it.
How does it compare?
- The Invacare Matrx Elite Deep backrest is a rigid back with a 6-inch contour.
- The Prism TrueFitt back uses cube foam that can be shaped for the user.
- The Prism Basic is a rigid foam-padded back with a mild contour.
