Description
The Jay centre-opening anterior trunk support with a buckle (dynamic ATS8800 series, structured ATS9400 series) is two neoprene chest pads that open at the centre for transfers.
What does it do and how does it work?
The pads open at a centre buckle, so a transfer does not mean taking the support off the chair. A centre strap sets how close the pads sit.
- Neoprene is the surface on the chest.
- Dynamic parts ATS8800 to ATS8804 give with high tone or involuntary movement.
- Structured parts hold a set chest position when posture slips through the day.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for someone who transfers often and still needs the chest held between transfers.
- Dynamic suits tone or involuntary movement. Structured suits a trunk that slips while sitting.
- Choose the zipper support if a zipper is easier than a buckle.
- Choose the classic panel if you want one continuous pad.
Will it fit?
Width runs across the chest. Depth runs up and down the pad.
- Early intervention, structured ATS9407: 5 by 9.75 in (12.7 by 24.8 cm).
- Extra small, ATS8800 or ATS9400: 5.75 by 11 in (14.6 by 27.9 cm).
- Small, ATS8801 or ATS9401S: 6.5 by 12.25 in (16.5 by 31.1 cm).
- Medium, ATS8802 or ATS9402S: 9.75 by 14.25 in (24.8 by 36.2 cm).
- Large, ATS8803 or ATS9403S: 9.75 by 15.5 in (24.8 by 39.4 cm).
- Extra large, ATS8804 or ATS9404S: 10 by 17.5 in (25.4 by 44.5 cm).

Using it day to day
Open the centre buckle for the transfer, then close it and set the centre strap to the assessed fit.
- Dynamic and structured are different part numbers. One support does not switch.
- A seating specialist sets the first fit. It is not a JAY Your Way modification.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It straps to the wheelchair back it was fitted to. The chair, cushion, and back are separate.
- It positions the trunk. It is not a vehicle seatbelt. In a vehicle, use it only if it carries the ISO 16840-4 marking.
- The straps have to reach that back. Not every back accepts them.
- No user weight is set for the support alone. The therapist matches it to the person.
Which version should I choose?
Pick dynamic or structured first, then the size in the chart. Early intervention is structured only, ATS9407. Dynamic starts at extra small ATS8800.
How does it compare?
- Jay zipper centre opening: same centre opening, with a zipper, dynamic only from small up.
- Jay Classic: one broad chest panel, dynamic or structured.
- Jay Y-style: more reach for one arm, with the other side supported.

Frequently asked questions
Can one support be switched from dynamic to structured?
No. Dynamic sizes are ATS8800 to ATS8804. Structured sizes are ATS9400 to ATS9404S, plus ATS9407. Order the construction you need.
Is early intervention sold as a dynamic support?
No. Early intervention is structured ATS9407, 5 by 9.75 in (12.7 by 24.8 cm). Dynamic sizes start at extra small, ATS8800.
Can it be used as a seatbelt in a vehicle?
Only one carrying the ISO 16840-4 marking is rated for use as a vehicle restraint. Otherwise it positions the trunk and is not a vehicle restraint.
What does not come in the box?
The wheelchair, the cushion, and the back. You receive one support in the size and construction ordered.
