Description

The Jay zipper anterior trunk support (dynamic ATS8701 to ATS8704) is for someone who transfers often and needs the chest support off quickly.

What does it do and how does it work?

A centre zipper opens the neoprene chest pads for a transfer. Lower side-release buckles sit under the zipper.

  • Dynamic construction gives with high tone or involuntary movement.
  • There is no structured zipper, no extra small, and no early intervention size.
  • Neoprene is the surface on the chest. It is not offered as a JAY Your Way modification.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It is for frequent transfers when a zipper is the closure you want.

  • Choose the centre-opening buckle if a buckle is easier than a zipper, including a structured build.
  • Choose the classic panel if you want one continuous pad rather than a centre opening.
  • Choose the Y-style if one arm needs more reach.

Will it fit?

Width runs across the chest. Depth runs up and down the pad. Sizes start at small.

  • Small, ATS8701: 8.5 by 15 in (21.6 by 38.1 cm).
  • Medium, ATS8702: 9.5 by 19 in (24.1 by 48.3 cm).
  • Large, ATS8703: 10.5 by 22.5 in (26.7 by 57.2 cm).
  • Extra large, ATS8704: 11.5 by 25.5 in (29.2 by 64.8 cm).

We confirm the size and the chair's back hardware before you order.

Using it day to day

Open the centre zipper for the transfer, then close it and fasten the lower buckles to the assessed fit.

  • This shape is dynamic only. You cannot switch it to a structured support.
  • A seating specialist sets the first fit.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

It straps to the wheelchair back it was fitted to. The chair, cushion, and back are separate.

  • It positions the trunk. It is not a vehicle seatbelt. In a vehicle, use it only if it carries the ISO 16840-4 marking.
  • The straps have to reach that back. Not every back accepts them.
  • No user weight is set for the support alone. The therapist matches it to the person.

How does it compare?

  • Jay centre-opening buckle: the same centre opening, with a buckle, and a structured series as well as dynamic.
  • Jay Classic: one broad chest panel, dynamic or structured.
  • Jay Y-style: more reach for one arm, with the other side supported.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a structured zipper support?

No. This shape is dynamic only, ATS8701 to ATS8704. Structured and early intervention are not in this series.

Does the zipper size range start at extra small?

No. The smallest zipper pad is small, ATS8701, 8.5 by 15 in (21.6 by 38.1 cm).

Can it be used as a seatbelt in a vehicle?

Only one carrying the ISO 16840-4 marking is rated for use as a vehicle restraint. Otherwise it positions the trunk and is not a vehicle restraint.

What does not come in the box?

The wheelchair, the cushion, and the back. You receive one dynamic zipper support in the size ordered.
