Description
Sunrise Medical builds the JAY Fusion with Cryo Technology cushion from a pre-contoured foam base and a five-chamber fluid insert, two chambers of which hold CryoFluid.
Browse wheelchair cushions.
Who is it for?
- It is a skin protection and positioning cushion, and the insert is chosen with the person's seating needs in mind.
- It suits a rider whose plan calls for a foam base with fluid under the seat bones and a cooling layer.
- Choose the right cushion in a seating assessment with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
Will it fit?
- Sizes here: 16 to 22 in wide and deep; the maker builds the CryoFluid version from 14 to 22 in.
- Not every width and depth pairing is a standard offering, so we confirm the exact size on the quote.
- The cushion is 4 in (102 mm) high in the standard profile, or about 3 in in the reduced profile; the 16 x 18 in size weighs 5.3 lbs (2.4 kg).
How does it work?
- The base is pre-contoured closed-cell foam with a high-resiliency layer and a rear pelvic wall.
- The insert has five chambers: CryoFluid in the two under the seat bones and JAY Flow fluid in the other three.
- The CryoFluid holds paraffin-wax microbeads and graphite. It draws heat from the seated skin for up to 8 hours in tests at 25°C (77°F), and results vary; it recharges in about 12 hours at 24°C (75°F) and will not recharge above 28°C (82°F).
What are the care limits?
- Check the fluid monthly: sit for 7 to 10 minutes with the zipper open, transfer off and press into the depressions; at least 1/2 in (13 mm) of fluid should be felt before the foam.
- Do not leave it overnight below 5°C (40°F) or above 42°C (108°F); let it reach room temperature before use.
- Wipe the insert with warm soapy water and never submerge it; wipe the foam base without soap and never soak it. The outer cover washes warm at 60°C (140°F), inside out, and dries on low.
- The cushion is warranted for 24 months and the removable cover for 6 months; punctures, tears and burns are excluded.
How does it compare?
- The JAY Fusion cushion is the same base with a standard hybrid fluid insert.
- The JAY J2 Deep Contour has a deep pelvic well.
- The ROHO High Profile uses air cells set to the person.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check the fluid insert, and does it need topping up?
Check it monthly as above; if less than 1/2 in of fluid is felt, stop using it and see your clinician, who can usually correct the volume.
Does the cushion come with the CryoFluid insert?
Yes. The CryoFluid insert is part of this cushion, not a separate purchase.
Is the JAY Fusion with Cryo Technology cushion latex free?
Yes. No component is made with natural rubber latex.
