Description
The Joerns N431 is an IV rod kit for a Joerns bed. It holds an IV bag at the frame so the bag travels with the bed instead of standing on the floor.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The rod seats in an IV socket on the bed.
- An EasyCare bed has four IV sockets: two at the head and two at the foot.
- An UltraCare XT bed has the same four-socket layout.
- Those sockets take Joerns IV poles and most poles that are 1/2 in (13 mm) across.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for a resident on a Joerns EasyCare or UltraCare XT who needs IV fluid at the bedside. Use a floor IV stand when the bed has no socket. This kit is not a rail and not a trapeze.
Will it fit?
- We confirm the bed model and serial before you order.
- On an EasyCare, the bed label is on the frame under the sleep deck at the foot.
- A pole that is not a Joerns IV pole, and is wider or narrower than 1/2 in (13 mm), may not seat in these sockets.
Using it day to day
Seat the rod, then hang the bag. When staff change the bed height, the bag stays with the frame. Keep tubing clear of the wheels.
A bed accessory used the wrong way can cause injury. Follow the sheet packed with the kit.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The carton is the N431 rod kit. IV bags, tubing, pumps, and the bed are separate.
- It does not replace a trapeze adapter. A drainage-bag holder is a different piece.
- An EasyCare safe working load is 600 lb (272 kg), including accessories. The rod is not a resident-weight rating of its own.
How does it compare?
- The Joerns EasyCare is the 600 lb (272 kg) frame with four IV sockets.
- The UltraCare XT is the other Joerns frame with the same socket layout.
- More add-ons are listed with bed accessories.
