The Joerns N341AL is a length extension kit for an UltraCare XT bed, for a person who needs a longer sleep surface than the standard 80 in deck.
What does it do and how does it work?
- A length extension takes the sleep length from 80 in (2032 mm) to 84 in (2134 mm) or 88 in (2235 mm).
- The two extension lengths are 4 in (102 mm) and 8 in (203 mm).
- One extender adds about 4 in (102 mm): an 84 in mattress on an 80 in deck, or an 80 in mattress on a 76 in deck.
- A foot panel stays on the bed. Sitting or sliding on the extender with no foot panel can make it fail and can cause injury or death.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For an UltraCare XT frame when an 80 in mattress is too short.
- Choose the WeCare length extension for a WeCare bed. That kit is not N341AL.
- Choose a mattress length bolster when only the foam is short.
Will it fit?
- Standard deck width is 35 in (889 mm). An UltraWide kit makes it 39 in (991 mm) or 42 in (1067 mm).
- Overall bed length is 85.5 in (2172 mm), 89.5 in (2273 mm) or 93.5 in (2375 mm).
- We confirm the frame is an UltraCare XT, and whether it needs the 4 in or the 8 in extension, before you order.
Using it day to day
- Set the mattress against the mattress stop so it covers the deck. A gap at the head or foot panel that can catch a head or neck can cause suffocation, injury or death.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The UltraCare XT safe working load is 650 lb (295 kg). Operating capacity is 600 lb (272 kg).

No. The kit lengthens the UltraCare XT deck. The mattress, panels and rails are each sold separately.
