Description
The Leckey Horizon (LHZ/1, LHZ/2, LHZ/3) is a powered standing frame for prone, upright and supine use, for someone aged about 4 to adult who cannot stand independently.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Angle: a handset moves the frame from 0 to 90 degrees, prone or supine.
- Pads: chest, hip and knee supports each move on their own.
- Feet: split footplates set height and plus or minus 10 degrees.
- Base: lock the castors facing out at 45 degrees. It is not a mobility device.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Choose it for prone, upright and supine in one frame.
- Choose an upright frame if no tilt is needed.
- Choose something else if pain, or a hip or knee contracture, is more than the pads can settle.
Will it fit?
Measure standing height, weight, hip width and chest width.
- Size 1, about 4-10 years: height 39.4-55.1 in (1000-1400 mm), to 110 lbs (50 kg), shoulder pad 32.3-45.3 in (820-1150 mm), hip pad 17.7-29.5 in (450-750 mm) high and 6.9-10.6 in (175-270 mm) wide, chest laterals 7.9-11.8 in (200-300 mm), base 44.7 x 22.8 in (1135 x 580 mm).
- Size 2, about 9-18 years: height 55.1-70.9 in (1400-1800 mm), to 176 lbs (80 kg), shoulder pad 39.4-57 in (1000-1450 mm), hip pad 29.5-37.4 in (750-950 mm) high and 8.3-15.3 in (210-390 mm) wide, chest laterals 9.4-14.9 in (240-380 mm), base 50.4 x 25.2 in (1280 x 640 mm).
- Size 3, about 14-adult: height 61-70.9 in (1550-1800 mm), to 220 lbs (100 kg), shoulder pad 39.4-57 in (1000-1450 mm), hip pad 29.5-45.3 in (750-1150 mm) high and 12.2-18.5 in (310-470 mm) wide, chest laterals 13.4-18.1 in (340-460 mm), base 50.4 x 25.2 in (1280 x 640 mm).
We confirm the size before you order. Laid flat, size 1 is 30.7 in (780 mm) high and sizes 2 and 3 are 31.7 in (805 mm) high.
Using it day to day
- It arrives on a pallet with a multi-tool. Wait 2 hours, then charge 12 hours before the first use.
- On a hoist transfer, fasten the pelvic band first to de-rotate the hips, then the chest strap, sandals, and hip and knee straps. In supine, fasten the knee supports.
- Do not change back-pad height while the frame is vertical and in use. Stay with the person.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Indoors, from 5 C to 40 C, on a slope of 5 degrees or less. Latex free. Nothing hot goes on the tray.
- The actuator runs 2 minutes, then rests 18 minutes. A low battery beeps. Charge about 1 hour a day.
- Use Leckey parts only. Warranty is 3 years, or 1 year on electrical parts. See the warranty. Covers are grey, green, blue or grey vinyl. Trays, sandals and a head support are extra.
Which version should I choose?
LHZ/1, LHZ/2 or LHZ/3.
How does it compare?
- Leckey Freestander is upright and does not tilt.
- Leckey Pronestander is for prone standing.
- Leckey Mygo Stander is a modular frame. See other standers.
