Description
The Leckey Mygo Seat (shells 117-610, 137-600 and 185-600) is a modular seat for a child aged 3 to 16 who cannot sit unsupported.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Pelvis: a four-point harness and pelvic cradle, with hip guides that set off midline.
- Seat: a split base for windswept legs, up to 13 degrees of abduction and 10 degrees of adduction, and a ramped cushion under the sitting bones.
- Back: 10 degrees forward to 25 degrees of recline, with the laterals holding their place as it moves.
- Legs: leg guides set a length difference, and the foot supports sit behind the knees to ease tight hamstrings.
- Chassis: tilt-in-space from 10 degrees prone to 25 degrees supine, on a hi-low base or a Sunrise mobility base.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Children with moderate to complex needs (GMFCS IV-V) whose trunk, head and pelvis must be shaped to one assessment.
- Choose a simpler Leckey seat if the child needs only light support.
- Choose something else if the child is under 40 lbs (18 kg) or too large for size 3.
Will it fit?
Measure height, weight, seat width and seat depth. We confirm the size before you order.
- Size 1 (about 3-10 years): 41-59 in (1050-1500 mm) tall, 40-110 lbs (18-50 kg), seat 8-13 in (200-325 mm) wide.
- Size 2 (about 8-14 years): 50-66 in (1270-1680 mm) tall, 40-132 lbs (18-60 kg), seat 8.7-13.6 in (220-345 mm) wide.
- Size 3 (about 10-16 years): 59-69 in (1500-1750 mm) tall, 40-154 lbs (18-70 kg), seat 9.8-15.7 in (250-400 mm) wide.
Using it day to day
- Fit and tighten every pad before the child gets in, and secure the pelvic harness first. Never leave a child unattended.
- Use full height or full recline only on ground under a 2 degree slope. On a ramp up to 10 degrees, keep the back upright and the seat below half height.
- Never leave the seat on a slope over 5 degrees. Lock the castors away from the base and steer by the push handle, not the tray.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Use it at home, at indoor school, or outdoors on a mobility base. It fits a Mygo hi-low chassis or a Sunrise base through an interface.
- Chest width is 6.7-10.6 in (170-270 mm) on sizes 1 and 2, and 7.8-11.8 in (200-300 mm) on size 3. A chest pad or harness is chosen for the trunk.
- Use only Leckey approved parts. Modifying the seat may void the 3 year warranty. See the warranty.
Which version should I choose?
Shells are grey or black; covers come in seven colours. Chassis: indoor or indoor/outdoor, manual, hydraulic or powered.
How does it compare?
- Leckey Squiggles Seating System is for ages about 1 to 5.
- Leckey PAL is for ages about 1 to 12.
- Leckey Everyday Activity Seat is for children and young adults. See other paediatric seating.
Frequently asked questions
Can the seat be used in a vehicle?
Yes. It is crash tested to ISO 16840 part 4. In a vehicle it must face forward, use an Unwin restraint and a fitted head support.
Can the covers be machine washed?
Yes. Remove the foam, wash at 40 C and tumble dry low. Wipe the chassis with a damp cloth, not running water.
Can two children share one shell?
Only when both fit the same size and a clinician resets the pads. The shaped supports belong to the assessment.
