Description
The Leckey PAL (seats 135-1600, 135-2600, 135-3600 and 135-4600) is an upright paediatric seat for a child aged about 1 to 12 who needs mild to moderate postural support.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Belt: a two-point lap belt comes with every seat.
- Side pads: 25 mm or 50 mm pads add lateral support.
- Adjustments: armrests, seat depth, back angle and legs adjust, and the footrest moves up and down.
- Ramped cushion: an optional cushion helps keep the pelvis and femurs aligned.
- Options: a pommel, a depth-adjustable tray and a choice of bases.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Children with mild to moderate needs who sit with a little help at a table at home or in class.
- A child who needs shaped trunk or head support should look at the Leckey Mygo Seating System instead.
- Fixed spinal deformity, strong uncontrolled movement or poorly controlled seizures need a clinician's assessment first.
Will it fit?
- Size 1 (1-3): 27.6-37.4 in (700-950 mm) tall, up to 66 lbs (30 kg), seat 5.9-9.8 in (150-250 mm) wide.
- Size 2 (2-5): 35.4-41.3 in (900-1050 mm) tall, up to 77 lbs (35 kg), seat 6.6-10.6 in (170-270 mm) wide.
- Size 3 (4-8): 39.4-51.2 in (1000-1300 mm) tall, up to 88 lbs (40 kg), seat 9-12.9 in (230-330 mm) wide.
- Size 4 (7-12): 47-63 in (1200-1600 mm) tall, up to 110 lbs (50 kg), seat 11-14.9 in (280-380 mm) wide.
Using it day to day
- Use maximum height or recline only on ground under a 2 degree slope. On a ramp up to 10 degrees, keep the back upright and the seat below half height.
- Lock the castors facing away from the base, and never leave the seat on a slope over 5 degrees.
- Never leave a child unattended in the seat.
- Wipe the vinyl with warm soapy water; do not use strong detergents or solvents.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The tray holds 11 lbs (5 kg) on sizes 1 and 2 and 17.6 lbs (8 kg) on sizes 3 and 4, and nothing hotter than 40 C.
- Bases include castor legs, rockers, stabilisers and skis. Rocker skis can trap a foot during a transfer.
- Keep it indoors, dry, between +5 and +40 C. Use only Leckey parts.
Which version should I choose?
Four sizes in blue or green. The seat includes its lap strap; the footrest, side pads, ramped cushion, pommel, tray and base are separate.
How does it compare?
- Leckey Squiggles Seating System is for a younger child, about 1 to 5, with more shaped support.

Frequently asked questions
Can two children share one seat?
Yes, after a compatibility check and a full inspection. Leckey asks for the seat to be cleaned and disinfected before another child uses it.
Can the seat be used outdoors?
No. It is intended for indoor use at home or in a classroom and should be stored dry.
How does a child get in and out?
Self-transfer only with the footrest at floor level. Otherwise, and on hard or slippery floors, a carer holds the seat.

Leckey warrants the Pal seating system for three years. The warranty covers every Leckey manufactured product and component.
- Seat, frame and Leckey manufactured accessories: 3 years.
- Applies only when the seat is used for its intended purpose, under the stated conditions and following Leckey's instructions.
- Any modification to the seat voids the warranty.
