Description
The Drive BTR22-B Bariatric Steel Transport Chair is a 22 in (56 cm) blue transport chair for a heavier rider, pushed by a companion.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- Reinforced steel frame with dual cross braces, rated to 450 lbs (204 kg).
- Seat 22 in (56 cm) wide by 18 in (46 cm) deep, 19.5 in (50 cm) from the floor, with a 16 in (41 cm) back.
- 12 in (30 cm) flat-free rear wheels and companion-activated wheel locks on both rear wheels.
- Removable, reversible desk-length arms, and swing-away footrests included.
- Folds side to side to 11.5 in (29 cm) wide; 49 lbs (22.2 kg).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A companion pushing a heavier rider on outings and to appointments, with a chair that folds for the car.
- The rider cannot wheel it: there are no hand rims and the wheel locks sit at the back for the person pushing. For self-propelling, see the Drive Sentra heavy duty.
- A lighter lift: the aluminum ATC22-R. Over 450 lbs (204 kg): ask about a wider chair.
Will it fit?
- Seat 22 in wide by 18 in deep; the chair is 26.5 in (67 cm) wide open, so measure the doorways first.
- 38 in (97 cm) long with the footrests; 11.5 in wide folded.
- The 20 in version is the BTR20-B.
- A free home assessment settles the width against the doorways and the seat against the rider.
Using it day to day
- The companion pushes and works the wheel locks at the back.
- Fold it side to side; the footrests swing away and the arms lift off for a transfer.
- It is not an automobile seat, so transfer to a vehicle seat for travel.
- We deliver across Toronto and the GTA.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- 450 lbs (204 kg) is the maximum, and the rider cannot self-propel.
- No cushion and no seat belt are included; ask us for a belt that fits the 22 in seat.
- It folds for storage and transport but is not a vehicle seat.
Which version should I choose?
How does it compare?
- The BTR22-R is the same chair in red.
- The ATC22-R is aluminium, so it is lighter to lift.
- The Sentra heavy duty lets the rider self-propel.
