Slings are purchase only. We do not rent slings. Our team helps confirm the correct size and lift attachment.
Description
The Human Care Amputee Sling is a shoulder-height, divided-leg sling with a slightly reclined seat, for a person with a single or double leg amputation, hip problems, or a risk of sliding out of another sling.
What does it do and how does it work?
It supports the back and thighs and holds the body in a slight recline, which helps keep the person from sliding forward.
- The back and leg sections are reinforced for support and wear.
- The divided legs let the carer position each leg separately.
- The person can have their arms inside or outside the sling.
- It hangs from loops on a hanger bar; the bar is separate.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a person with good head control who needs a divided-leg sling for a passive lift transfer.
- It has no head support, so a person with limited head control needs a different sling.
- It is not a walking belt or a stand aid.
- A clinician assesses the sling and the transfer method before use.
Which part should I choose?
Polyester 25040 is the durable everyday fabric; polyester net 25140 is the version for bathing and showering.
- Both come in junior medium (grey), small (red), medium (yellow), large (green) and extra large (blue).
- The size guide runs from 20 to 35 kg (44 to 77 lb) in junior medium to 110 to 140 kg (243 to 309 lb) in extra large.
- The safe working load is 300 kg (660 lb) on every size.
Which hanger bar fits?
The sling is listed with bars 57551 and 55764 for 2- or 3-point suspension and 55619 for 4-point with a leg hook.
- The lift maker must approve the pairing of sling and lift.
- Tell us the lift and bar you have and we check the match before you order.
Using it day to day
Fit the sling around the back and under the thighs, then attach the loops to the hanger bar.
- Check the straps, stitching and loops before each use, and inspect the sling at least every 6 months.
- Machine wash and dry it. The polyester label example is 75 C (167 F). Do not use bleach or fabric softener, and use a hospital-grade laundry bag.
- Expected life is 3 years, or 150 to 180 washes, when it is used and maintained as directed.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It is a passive-lift sling for bed, chair and floor transfers.
- The net version is the only one for bathing or showering.
- An optional waist belt is available in Velcro (25145) or buckle (25146) form, in its own sizes.
- Extension loops 21180 come in lengths from 10 cm to 35 cm; the upholstered cover 50866 is not for wet use.
How does it compare?
- Full body slings: the shapes with built-in head support.
- Patient lift slings: the full range.
