Slings are purchase only. We do not rent slings. Our team helps confirm the correct size and lift attachment.
Description
The Human Care positioning sling is a supine sheet for turning, repositioning and lateral transfer. It goes under a person who stays lying flat and is not a seated sling.
What does it do and how does it work?
It lets a caregiver turn or slide a person in bed without lifting them clear of the mattress.
- Eight reinforced straps, six on the body and two at the head, connect to a 4-point bar.
- High-strength nylon webbing runs around the edge, and the straps are placed for comfort and safety.
- The reusable ventilated version is breathable and moisture-wicking, and can stay behind the person for short periods.
- The single-patient version is made for short-term use by one person and is disposed of after use.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a person who is cared for lying on their back and needs turning, repositioning or a lateral move.
- It is not a divided-leg transfer sling, a walking belt or a chair sling.
- A clinician assesses the person and chooses the reusable or single-patient version.
- Use it only for the supine position and for short periods.
Which size and rating?
The large and extra large ventilated sheets are rated 1000 lb (454 kg); the single-patient sheets are rated 700 lb (318 kg).
- NSB-410-ST-L: 1320 mm (52 in) wide and 208 cm (81.9 in) long.
- NSB-410-ST-XL: 147 cm (57.9 in) wide and 208 cm (81.9 in) long.
- NSB-451-U and NSB-451-S: about 105 cm (41.3 in) wide and 168 cm (66 in) long.
Which bar does it fit?
It needs a 4-point suspension bar: 92938 for the HeliQ or HeliQ PT, or 55619 for the Altair or Roomer S.
- Do not use a 2-point bar.
- Tell us the lift and bar you have before you order.
- Extension loops 21180 are available in several lengths to alter the lifting position.
Care and limits
Follow the label for a reusable sling and use a hospital-grade laundry bag.
- The single-patient NSB-451-U is disposed of after use.
- Never exceed the rating for the exact code or the lift's rating.
- Check the straps, webbing and stitching before each use and discard a damaged sheet.
- Inspect a reusable sling at least every 6 months. Used as intended, it is expected to last 3 years, or 150 to 180 washes.
How does it compare?
- Slings lists the seated and transfer shapes.
- Patient lifts covers the lifts and bars.
- A free home assessment can check the bed and the lift.
