Description
A curved stairlift for stairs that turn, wind or pass a landing, built by Savaria under the Handicare name.
Who is the Handicare 4000 for?
- A rider up to 300 lb (136 kg), or 350 lb (159 kg) with the heavier-duty option, who can sit and transfer at each end.
- A rider with knee or hip problems: the Perch seat is raised, with a shorter seat, so you ride partly standing.
- Stairs with turns, a middle landing or pie-shaped steps; one straight flight needs a straight stairlift.
How is it made for your stairs?
- The twin rail is built in North America from a drawing of your staircase.
- Because the rail is made for one staircase, a custom-built stairlift cannot be returned; see our return policy.
- 90 or 180 degree parking takes the chair around the corner, off the stairs.
- A doorway or open area at the bottom: the power folding hinge keeps the floor clear.
Will it fit your stairs?
- Angle 0 to 56 degrees, and up to 49 ft (14.9 m) of rail.
- Folded, the chair sits 16 in (405 mm) from the wall; open, 27.4 in (695 mm), or 25.75 in (655 mm) with the offset footrest.
- We check your stair width at a free stairlift measure and give you a written price.
Seats, options and colours
- Seats: Simplicity (sand), Style (vanilla) or Smart (cacao, sand or slate), plus a Perch seat option (cacao, sand or slate) and an Outdoor seat (slate) for the outdoor package.
- Power options: a swivel that turns you to face the landing, a folding footrest and the folding hinge.
- Rail in light grey, black or brown; other rail colours are made to order.
- Outdoors: an outdoor package for moderate climates, where available; we confirm it at the measure.
How does it compare?
- Handicare Freecurve: a single-tube rail rated 275 lb (125 kg), for indoor stairs.
- Access BDD Flow X: a single rail for steep and narrow stairs, rated 275 lb (125 kg).
- All our curved stairlifts.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 4000 keep running in a power cut?
Yes. Its batteries charge at the stations at each end, and it still makes several runs while the power is out.
Why does it have two rails?
The twin rail sits close to the wall or railing around bends, leaving more of each step free.
How do I get off at the top?
Turn the seat to face the landing before you stand, so you step onto the floor. The optional power swivel does it with a switch.
