Description
Savaria's high-capacity straight stairlift for one indoor flight, for a rider who needs more weight capacity or a wider seat than most straight lifts offer.
Who is the K2 Plus for?
- A rider up to 400 lb (181 kg) who can sit and transfer at each landing, using the Plus seat.
- A rider who wants more room between the arms: up to 24 1/4 in on the Plus seat.
- Not for outdoor steps or for stairs with a turn; see curved stairlifts.
- Someone who cannot leave a wheelchair should ask about a stair-climbing wheelchair.
Which seat gives 400 lb?
Only the Plus seat, which is rated 400 lb (181 kg) in a home. The L seat is rated 350 lb (159 kg), and either seat is limited to 300 lb (136 kg) with the manual flip-up rail.
Will it fit your stairs?
- Angle 30 to 55 degrees, and up to 32 ft (9.75 m) of travel.
- Folded, the Plus seat sits 14 3/4 in (37.4 cm) from the wall, and 28 1/2 in (72.4 cm) open. Check that others can still pass.
- A door at the bottom: a rail end that you flip up by hand. Near the top landing: rail extension brackets.
- It mounts on either side. We measure at a free stairlift measure and give you a written price.
Seat, controls and charging
- The seat swivels and locks at the landing; the seat, arms and footrest all fold away. Easy-clean vinyl.
- Armrest toggle, two radio call stations and LED status lights.
- Sensors on the footrest and carriage that stop it at an obstruction, an overspeed brake, a retractable seat belt and an anti-slip footrest.
- The battery charges continuously along the rail and makes several trips in a power failure.
How does it compare?
- Savaria K2: the same family with a slimmer fold and an outdoor package; 350 lb, or 300 lb with the flip-up rail, rail extension brackets or stairs over 45 degrees.
- Handicare 1000: an optional higher capacity on the Smart seat and an outdoor package.
- All our straight stairlifts.
Frequently asked questions
Is the K2 Plus suitable for outdoor steps?
No. It is made for indoor stairs only. For steps outside, ask about a lift with an outdoor package.
Where does it charge, and what if the power goes out?
It charges at any point on the rail from household power, so it is never far from a charge. In an outage it still makes several trips.
Can we switch from the L seat to the Plus seat later?
Ask us before you order: the seat sets both the rated load and the folded depth, so we plan the rail and clearances around it.
Funding may help: see who may help pay.
Ask us for the written warranty that applies to your lift. Stairlifts bought from us include two free service calls during the labour warranty period; see stairlift service.
