Description
A bath board is the simplest way to keep washing in the tub when standing in it stops feeling safe. It sits across the bath, you sit down on it, and the hand shower does the rest. This one is the BIOS Living LF773, a white plastic board on two adjustable legs, and nothing is fixed to the walls.
It fits the bath, not the room
The two legs turn out to meet the inside walls of the bath, so the board suits tubs from 32 to 55 cm (12.5 to 21.6 in) across. It must not overhang the outside wall by more than 2 cm. The board is 71 cm (27.9 in) long and 31.5 cm (12.4 in) front to back.
BIOS Living rates it to 300 lb (136 kg) and covers it for one year from new.
A handle to hold, holes to drain
A fixed handle at the side gives you something to steady yourself with as you sit down or stand up. Holes through the board let water run back into the tub, and rubber stops at the feet of the legs hold it on the rim.
Putting it together
It arrives in parts: the board, the handle and the two legs, held with plastic bolts and slotted screws turned with a coin or a screwdriver. Turn the legs outwards until they meet the tub walls, and do not force them past snug.
How does it compare?
If you want a backrest and arms, look at a bath bench. If the problem is the toilet rather than the tub, the bathroom safety range covers raised seats and grab bars.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my tub?
The legs adjust to tubs from 32 to 55 cm (12.5 to 21.6 in) across, and the board must not overhang the outside wall by more than 2 cm.
How much weight will it hold?
300 lb (136 kg). It is a seat for washing over the tub, so sit on it rather than stand on it.
Is anything needed to fit the parts together?
No. The parts are held with plastic bolts and slotted screws that turn with a coin or a screwdriver until snug. Do not over-tighten them.
What does the warranty cover?
One year from BIOS Living to the original owner, against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep the proof of purchase and tell us if something goes wrong.
