Description
This is the front caster and its leg for the Drive NRS185006 aluminum rehab shower commode chair, sold on its own as a spare part. It is the wheel that carries the chair over a threshold and around a bathroom doorway, and it is often the first part to wear out.
The caster on this chair locks. When it stops rolling smoothly, or the brake no longer holds, the chair should come out of use; a new caster and leg costs far less than a new chair.
Which version does your chair take?
Drive lists three versions of this part, and your chair's serial number decides which one fits. Our part is NRS185006-08N, for chairs numbered 29S250801516 and before.
Chairs numbered 29S250801517 and later take NRS185006-08BA instead. The serial number is stamped on the chair's frame, and we confirm the version from it before your order ships.
Fitting the new caster
Drive's instruction sheet sets out the order of work: push the front caster into the frame, then secure it with the maker's E clips. Drive asks that each clip protrudes through the hole in the leg extension, and that all bolts are tight before the chair goes back into use.
The retaining clips are a separate item on Drive's parts list, so check yours and tell us if they are missing or bent.
How does it compare?
- The NRS185007 rehab shower commode chair: the four-rear-locking-caster version of this chair.
- Shower commodes: the full range, if the chair is being replaced rather than repaired.
- Commode chairs: wheeled, tilt and bedside commodes in one place.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which caster my chair takes?
By the serial number on the chair's frame, not the model number alone. Read it to us or send a photo, and we match it against Drive's parts sheet.
Does the caster arrive with the clips?
Drive's parts list carries the frame clips separately, so look at yours first. Tell us if they are missing and we price them in with the caster.
Can I fit the caster myself?
Yes. It pushes into the frame and is held by clips, with no welding and no special tools.
Is the caster covered by the chair's warranty?
No. Drive's lifetime limited warranty on the chair excludes non-durable parts such as casters and grips, which wear with use.
We deliver across Toronto and the GTA. Bathroom safety items are non-returnable under our return policy, so please confirm the version first; delivery is in our shipping policy. Send your serial number through contact us, or book a free home assessment.
