Description
The Drive 12022KD-1 is a heavy duty shower chair with a cross braced aluminum frame and no backrest. It sits in our bathroom safety range, and Drive rates the seat to 500 lb.
What it is for
It is for anyone unsteady on their feet in the shower, or past the weight limit of a standard bath chair: a wide seat, a frame braced both ways, and drainage holes so water runs off.
- Rated by the maker to 500 lb (226 kg).
- The seat is 20 in wide and 12 in deep.
Height and assembly
It arrives flat: the seat, the legs and the cross braces bolt together with the hardware in the box. Each leg then adjusts in 1 in steps and locks with a clip. Set all four the same, then push down on the seat to check they hold.
Cleaning and care
Wash it with mild soap and warm water and dry the seat after use. Check the rubber tips now and then, and replace any that are split or missing before the chair is used again. Drive lists a replacement tip for this chair, so ask us and we confirm the right part for your model.
Delivery, returns and service
We deliver and set up across Toronto and the GTA. Our returns policy covers an unopened chair, and we handle service and parts on what we sell. Drive covers this chair for the lifetime of the original purchaser, but counts tips and grips as wear items.
Where else to look
A transfer bench is the better answer when the seat has to cross the edge of a tub, and a raised toilet seat is the one for trouble at the toilet. Tell us how your bathroom is laid out and we will say what to try first.

Frequently asked questions
Does the chair have a backrest?
No. Drive builds the same chair with a backrest under another item number.
Do I have to put it together?
Yes, it arrives flat and bolts together with the hardware in the box. A screwdriver and a wrench are all you need.
How do I change the height?
Each leg moves in 1 in steps. Pull the clip, set the height, push the clip back in, and keep all four legs level.
Will it fit my shower?
The seat is 20 in by 12 in, but the maker does not publish the frame spread. Measure your shower and ask.
What does the warranty cover?
A limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Rubber tips and grips count as wear items.
