Savaria ErgoGlide chair pad, item 230530

Item 230530 is the Savaria ErgoGlide 5300. It is a square pad that sits in a chair so a person can be moved back, then stays from sliding toward the front. It is not a lifting sling.

What is this pad for?

• Savaria describes it as a one-way glide for a seated person. The low-friction face makes the backward move easier. The locking face works against a slide forward.
• The foot-loop configuration is item 230540. The blue disposable is item 231007. This record is 230530 only.
• It is not the long bed tube. That is a different ErgoSlide family.

Which size is 230530?

• The 9 Aug 2019 sheet gives 17.75 x 17.75 in (45 x 45 cm).

How do you place it?

• Keep the label facing up and point the arrow to the back of the chair.
• If a lift sets the person in the chair, put the pad in first, then bring the person all the way back.
• If the person sits down short of the backrest, set the pad a few inches forward of the back, then help them back with a light pull. Practise with another caregiver first.

Skin, wear and washing

• Check the skin if the pad stays in place for a long time. Ask an occupational therapist or physiotherapist when a pressure injury is a risk.
• Check for wear before use. A facility should approve its own handling steps.
• Machine wash up to 170 F (80 C). Air dry, or tumble on low, up to 104 F (40 C).
