Description

The Future Mobility Max TrueFitt Back is a rigid aluminum wheelchair back with raised laterals for high trunk support.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Raised laterals: 6 in (152 mm) of lateral support for the upper trunk.
  • Shell: lightweight aluminum, with individual foam cubes that a clinician can trim.
  • Hardware: quick-release lower latch levers; cane clamps fit 1 in (25 mm) posts, with inserts for 7/8 in (22 mm) posts.
  • Adjustments: 5 in (13 cm) fore and aft, 15 degrees forward and 20 degrees back.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a person who needs high trunk support from raised laterals and a back that can be trimmed to an individual posture. An occupational therapist or physiotherapist assesses the fit and shapes the foam.

Choose a made-to-measure shell from our backrest range for an asymmetric torso; choose a stocked Prism TrueFitt if raised laterals are not needed.

Will it fit?

  • Back: 14 to 24 in (356 to 610 mm) wide and 14 to 20 in (356 to 508 mm) high.
  • Stock and non-stock: stock 16 to 20 in wide by 16 in high; non-stock 14 to 20 in wide by 14 to 20 in high.
  • Bariatric and custom: 21 to 24 in wide as bariatric; custom width to 32 in (813 mm) and height from 11 in (279 mm).
  • Seat frames: up to 2 in (51 mm) wider than the back; longer pins cover 1 in and 2 in wider frames.

Using it day to day

We mount the hardware and set the height, depth and recline; the back then lifts off its lower latches for cleaning or transfer.

  • Cover: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, no bleach or fabric softener, air dry in shade.
  • Shell and fasteners: wipe with a damp cloth and check the mounting screws regularly.
  • Foam: the cubes are trimmed during the seating assessment, not after delivery.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • Cover: it must stay on; it protects the foam and is fire retardant, and a torn cover must be replaced.
  • Custom size: not returnable once in production; read the return policy first.
  • Warranty: 3 years on the back, 1 year on hardware, 90 days on the cover; see the Warranty tab.

Which version should I choose?

  • Cover: 4-way stretch, or infection control for moisture resistance in care settings.
  • Foam: Visco 2 x 2 in or Poly 3 x 2 in.
  • Size: stock, non-stock, bariatric or custom, with an optional headrest mount.

How does it compare?

The Prism TrueFitt uses the same mounting family without raised laterals; a made-to-measure shell suits an asymmetric torso. Read the backrest guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order a size that is not on the stock list?

Yes. Custom sizes go to 32 in (813 mm) wide and from 11 in (279 mm) high.

Can the back be used without its cover?

No. The cover protects the foam against incontinence and is fire retardant; a torn cover must be replaced.

Does it fit 3/4 inch back posts?

No. The cane clamps fit 1 in (25 mm) posts and include inserts for 7/8 in (22 mm) posts.

Can the foam be trimmed to the user?

Yes. The foam is in individual cubes that the clinician trims during the seating assessment.
