What the cushion is
Drive's Gel-U-Seat is a wheelchair cushion in two parts: a high density foam shell with a gel bladder inside. The bladder has two chambers, which Drive says lets the gel give "proper immersion and envelopment for pressure redistribution". The cushion stands 3 in high.
The cover and the straps
- The cover's top is a fluid resistant stretch fabric that Drive makes to be low shear; it says it cuts heat and moisture build-up.
- The underside is waterproof vinyl, the face that rests on the seat rails.
- Two 12 in tie straps loop through the frame and knot, so the cushion stays where it is put.
- Drive rates it at 275 lbs up to 20 in wide, gives an 18 month limited warranty and says it meets flammability standard TB117.
Choosing the size
Measure the seat's width and depth, then pick the size that fills the seat without overhanging the frame. We stock four, from 16 in by 16 in up to 22 in by 18 in, each with the maker's item number in the specifications. For foam with more shaping, see our contoured foam cushions.
How it compares

Is a single cushion available, or only a case?
