Description
Item 721-785 is the Hugo Comfort Max medium adult pair. The pad sits under the arm. It is not a forearm crutch, and it is not the tall adult pair.
Who this pair is for
Hugo's chart puts 721-785 in the medium adult row. Use it when the user's height is in that row, and when underarm crutches are what was asked for. Tall adult is item 721-780. Youth is item 721-790. Neither is this page.
Some shops attach this barcode to a tall height. That conflicts with Hugo's chart. We follow Hugo, the maker, and we do not print the other height here.
Check the fit
For 721-785, Hugo's user height is 5 ft 2 in to 5 ft 10 in (157 to 178 cm). Height marks on the centre tube are in about 1 in steps, which helps a fitter land on the same hole next time.
Drive's Canadian shop also prints an adjustment of 44 in to 52 in for this item. That figure is not labeled as handle height, so we do not file it as the handle height. If you need that measurement explained, bring the pair in.
How they are built
Hugo makes the frame from anodized aluminum and sells the crutches by the pair. A curved stair deflector sits at the tip, and a metal ring in the tip is there to slow wear. The grips are washable and the underarm pad is thick.
Push-button clips change the length. Set them with a clinician, or at a free home assessment, rather than guessing from a shoe size. See walking aids for other aids.
Funding may help: see who may help pay. Service can replace a worn tip, and you can contact us if you are between the medium and tall rows.
Frequently asked questions
Is 721-780 this page in a taller size?
No. This pair stops at the medium row. A taller user needs the other adult item, set by a fitter.
Why is there a metal ring in the tip?
Hugo puts it there so the tip wears more slowly. It does not make the tip last forever. Replace a cracked or smooth tip.
Can I set the height marks on my own?
The marks help you return to the same hole. The first setting should still be done with a fitter so the pad is not digging in.
Will these take a forearm cuff?
No. The pad is an underarm pad. A forearm crutch is a different shape and a different item.
