Description
MHBBA is a free-standing bath chair: an aluminum frame with a back, padded arms and a seat that lifts from 17 in to 22 in (43-56 cm) off the floor.
Who it suits, and who should choose something else
- Someone who wants to sit while bathing, with a back and arms to push up on. MOBB rates it 300 lbs (136 kg).
- Sliding in from outside the tub: a transfer bench puts two legs outside. MHBBA stands in the tub and you step in.
- Someone a carer lifts in and out: a bath lift does the lifting. MHBBA does not move.
Will it fit your tub?
- Seat height adjusts from 17 in to 22 in (43-56 cm), so it can sit level with the tub wall or below it.
- The seat is 16 in wide by 13 in deep (41 x 33 cm), and the arms are 21.6 in (55 cm) apart across their tops.
- MOBB lists it for virtually all bath tubs but publishes no tub measurement, so check yours. A free home assessment measures the bathroom for you.
How do you set it up?
- Tool free. The legs adjust in six steps to set the seat height.
- The seat has drainage holes, so water runs through instead of pooling.
How safe is it?
- Rated 300 lbs (136 kg) on a tub floor, with suction cup rubber feet and an aluminum frame.
- It is a chair, not a lift: it holds the person sitting, and it does not raise or lower anyone.
How does it compare?
A bath stool is lighter but has no back or arms, a transfer bench lets you slide across the tub wall, and a bath lift does the lifting. MHBBA is the middle choice: you step in and sit. See the rest of the bath chairs and stools.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it weigh?
MOBB publishes no product weight for MHBBA. Ask us and we will weigh one.
Can the arms be taken off?
Yes. MOBB's own diagram labels them removable padded arms, so one side can be cleared for a transfer.
Can I use it outside the tub?
MOBB builds MHBBA as a bath chair for a tub, with suction cup rubber feet for the tub floor. Ask us which chairs suit a shower stall.
Will it fit a narrow tub?
The feet span 18.6 in (47 cm) wide. MOBB gives no minimum tub size, so measure your tub floor first.
Bathroom safety items are non-returnable under our return policy, so measure the tub first. We set the legs to your height when we deliver across Toronto and the GTA.
