Description
The Newton Ultracaster composite wheel is the maker's small front caster for its Apex chairs, in the 4 x 1.5 in size. It is the wheel at the bottom of the front fork that the chair rolls and steers on, and the 4 in is the smallest of the three composite sizes.
A caster takes the knocks of curbs, door frames and rough ground, so a flat spot or a worn bearing shows as a chair that pulls or rumbles. The maker sells this wheel on its own, without hardware or bearings.
A technician fits it, because it turns on the fork stem and runs on its axle, and the stem bolt and axle nut are set when the wheel goes back on.
