Description
The 5 in Newton Ultracaster composite is the middle size of the maker's composite front casters for its Apex chairs. It sits at the bottom of the front fork and turns as the chair rolls, and it is an inch larger in diameter than the 4 in wheel of the same family.
Front casters meet curbs, thresholds and rough pavement head on, so a flat spot or a gritty bearing shows up as a rumbling chair that wanders. The maker supplies the wheel alone, without its mounting hardware or bearings.
A technician fits it, checking the fork stem bolt and the axle nut when the wheel goes on.
