Description
The SPAN Premium Overbed Table is a rolling table for meals, reading and paperwork at the bedside. A spring-assisted column raises and lowers the top without a lever to hold, and the base runs on four gliding casters so it can be moved out of the way with a foot.
Span-America builds it in North America as part of the SPAN furniture line, and the finish is chosen to match the case goods, headboards and footboards from the same range.
What the table does
- The top measures 15 in deep by 30 in wide, and the height runs from 28 in to 45.5 in, which covers low beds, standard hospital beds, wheelchairs and recliners.
- The base is wide and C-shaped. There is no centre bar between the legs, so a wheelchair rolls in under the top rather than stopping at it.
- The base is finished in a scuff-resistant anti-microbial powder coating, and the top is 3DL laminate MDF for a surface that wipes clean.
Finish and assembly
- The top comes with a flat or a raised edge; the raised edge is the one that helps contain spills.
- It ships flat with pre-drilled holes, and the maker says it goes together in a few minutes with basic tools.
- The maker lists it in a range of wood-look finishes, so tell us the room it is going into and we match it to the case goods.
Where it fits
- It sits with the rest of the bed tables we carry, and with the wider bed accessories range.
- It coordinates with the maker's patient room products, headboards and case goods.
- If a tilting top is what you are after, the Drive pivot and tilt overbed table is the other one we stock.
Frequently asked questions
Will the table go over a wheelchair?
Yes. The C-shaped base has no centre bar, so a wheelchair pulls in under the top and the person eats at the table rather than from a tray on their lap.
What height does it adjust to?
The top runs from 28 in to 45.5 in (71 to 115.5 cm). That range covers low beds, standard hospital beds, chairs and recliners.
Does it need to be assembled on site?
It ships flat with the holes already drilled, so it assembles with basic tools in a few minutes.
How does the top handle spills?
The surface is laminate and wipes clean, and the optional raised edge is there to keep a spill on the table instead of on the person or the floor.
The maker covers the table for 5 years.
