Description
The Switch-It Cool Cube is a smart switch box for a power wheelchair user who drives with switches or sensors instead of a joystick. It reads the type of switch in each port on its own.
Who is the Cool Cube for?
The maker builds it for riders whose ability varies from day to day or from one part of the body to another. It suits a rider who presses a switch, or who uses a head array.
Which switches and wheelchairs does it work with?
A port takes a Pro Spot proportional switch, an electronic sensor such as a proximity or Flex switch, or a mechanical switch, and the kinds can be mixed. The hub needs the maker's Omni or Enhanced Display.
How does it drive the chair?
A Pro Spot switch is proportional: the chair starts at roughly 40% of its programmed speed and continued pressure takes it to full speed. A mechanical switch gives full on or full off only.
How is it mounted and set up?
Pro Spot switches mount at the armrest, midline, headrest, hand or lap tray, knee or leg. With three or more switches each port drives its own direction; with two, both together go forward. Bring the chair to our showroom or book a free home assessment and set the ports up.
Which packages can I order?
The hub comes alone as CCB, with the switches chosen separately, or as a system with four Pro Spot switches, CCB-4PS, or five, CCB-5PS. The four switch system carries red, blue, green and yellow; the five adds orange.
Funding help for a Cool Cube in Ontario
Depending on the person's needs and assessment, funding may be available for mobility equipment in Ontario. Our team works with funding programs every week and can point you to the right route before you buy. See our funding guide or call (905) 798-1853.
Delivery, service and warranty
We fit the hub, mount the switches and program the chair. Sunrise Medical sets the coverage on Switch-It electronics, so we confirm the period in writing with your quote. The maker's paperwork is on our documents page.
How does it compare?
If the rider needs one or two buttons rather than a system, see our wheelchair accessories, or the power wheelchairs themselves.
Frequently asked questions
Can the Cool Cube use switches I own?
Its ports take Pro Spots, sensors and mechanical switches, and the hub works out which is plugged in.
Will it work on my power chair?
It needs an Omni or Enhanced Display. We check your chair first.
Do you fit and program it?
Yes. We mount the switches, set the ports and program the chair.
